Do you think that it's ok to have a work far from the degree that you finished?

My work right now is far from the degree i finished in college. I'm kind of scared that I might get stuck in this kind of work and forget about all the things that I learned in college.I might get rusty so tendency is I will stay in this kind of work.

Ideally, one has to make use of his stocked knowledge or degree taken as the leading tool for job placement. Your educational background must be in line with the kind of work you are in. It is our of dreams that we should be able to apply the knowledge we learned from school theoretically and implement them related to the work we have chosen.
In fact, I once had a job abroad which was not related to my course at all. It was because the offer was good compared to working locally even 'tho related to your degree but you get low pay.
This is one of the dilemma being faced by new graduates nowadays. There are not enough employment opportunities for them to land on a job which is related to the degree they finished. They try their luck to venture into another work which is totally insignificant to their acquired knowledge. The bottom line here getting employed the quickest possible way, related to your degree or not, is far more important than not earning at all.

I agree. Actually, a lot of people think that I am better off with my work right now.I have a colleague whose work is related to the course that we finished but our salary is the same or more,i think. I was surprised by that.Although, I like my work, I fear that someday I would not be able to apply what I have learned in college.

honestly, i may have some regrets having a job not related to my course because you'll soon bring the stocked knowledge into oblivion once you don't rehearse them once in a while. as a tip, give yourself time to read few articles, latest updates about topics that you have missed. in my case, i am researching few discussions and forums, reading some e-books that talk about things which are part of my previous knowledge.
