My tummy muscles has been overworked these past few days and i feel like i wouldnt need to exercise it for a few weeks.^__^;; This is because of my cough which had been pestering me since Thursday. I only felt its effect on my tummy on Friday when i noticed that everytime i cough, i hold my tummy as if to prevent it from "moving". it seemed that whenever i cough, my tummy muscles contract and tightens just as how it reacts whenever i do some sit-ups. at first i thought it was advantageous, LOL, but then my cough hasnt left me since it started and i think my tummy muscles has been overworked without really improving. LOL now i just wish that my coughing would stop. never mind with having a flat tummy. ^__^;;

hiii funny bear,you are so much funny i can't believe it.even when you are so unwell all these crazy things are working up in your mind.hahahahaha:)i can't stop myself from laughing when i read this post of yours. but you certainly make sense secretbear.i have also experienced it in these few days as i was also suffering from flu like you.and the cough is still continuing.so even if its disgusting its definitely advantageous.atleast its helping to stay away from those hectic workouts.now after you said i am gonna see of i have made a flat tummy in these days.LOL.but i wish i get rid of this irritating cough as soon as possible.i can't stand it anymore. so lets get well soon dear and switch over to our usual workouts for flat tummy.LOL.

Hi secretbear, My sisters friend who is a doctor told her once to put a little amount of salt into your drinking water and drink frequently. It's kind of remedy to your cough. I have tried it and it works for me. I am hoping it will works for you too. :)

How much salt do you add to a bottle of water? I got this cough that has lasted since the 1st of October and been told to drink lemon with water. I get it this cough every year, but this is the first I have gotten it twice

Hello chertsy, just a little amount of it in your glass of water, enough to taste a little salty. It is soothing to your throat and somehow a remedy to the ichyness of your throat and to your cough.

Hey go see a doctor! The cough will not strengthen but do the contrary to your abs. You get increased chances of Hernia, Rectal prolapse and even eye problems due to sudden rise in intra abdominal and intra ocular pressures while coughing.

Hi Bear, what you say is so true though I haven’t thought of it this way ever. Persistent dry coughs make our abdomen muscles pain so much after a few days that I don’t know which to wish away first – the cough or the pain. I even used to clutch my tummy so that the side muscles wont contract and start aching again. But next time I have these, I’ll think of the benefits as pointed out by you LOL! By the way, you are cute in your new avatar.

LOl... I thought you had something to induce coughing to trim down abs... I would do seat ups and cycling for that. but my metabolism seems to slow down I haven't the zest for it now, So I just walk every time I have a chance.

Hate to tell you but I think coughing stretches the muscles instead of contracting them. Unless you pull the muscles inwards and hold them tight while you cough and I doub't you have the energy for that. I sometoimes find that I can alleviate a cough by blowing my nose....even if it doesn't feel it needs blowing...I think it's about the throat.

I have experienced this too. Whenever I have a hard cough my tummy muscles feel pain. And when I touch it, it feels like it is contracting like having sit ups. That is why sometimes I like it when ever I have coughs.

I know what you mean. I had bronchitis a couple weeks ago. It seemed like I couldn't stop coughing. After a while the area in you tummy and chest does start to hurt. Not only when you cough, but if you move wrong. Hope you are feeling better.

Haha, that's funny. But it is somehow true. I remember there is once I'm training my abs and having muscle ache for few days. During these few days, whenever I cough I would feel an ache on my abs.

You can try this ...it is simple... if you have liniment at home rub some on your feet then put some socks on, you can do this when you are about to sleep so it wont bother you much. If this wont work then i don't know what will.

I do that whenever I have fever. and I don't do that whenever I don't because that would be too warm to the feet and I won't be comfortable sleeping. ^__^ if I have fever it'll be okay for me coz i'll be cold and i'd welcome any warmth. ^__^

You are working them when you cough, but in order for anyone to look like that just by coughing, you'd cough up your lung or do serious damage to them. I've done that as well: coughed too much that my stomach hurts. It's just your body's way of getting rid of the mucus build up.
