Dear parents, I have a five year old daughter and I do try to spend most times with her. Playing, reading, watching tv, doing activites, shopping, going to places, swimming, etc. How do you spend time with your kids? Especially on weekends. I dont like her to be watching tv all the time. She does like to draw and do art activities, but i want do soemthing more with her.

I like to go out with my child, such as the park. Because the space is large and we can breathe the fresh air. It is better for children to have much more outdoor activities in my opinion.

yes, i do like to bring her to parks, however our place doesnt have parks safe for kids. I do bring her to our penthouse where she can run around and ride bike, but on rainy days, we have to stay indoor.

If your daughter is interested in arts and crafts Than why not take some mother/daughter ceramics classes together. It will get you both away from the house. And she will be so proud to have her painted pieces displayed around the house. I have a 6 year old son and he plays t ball in the spring, and with it being fall I now have him in soccer. Organized sports are great for making new friends and it has the added benefit of getting them ready for school by having to listen to adults that aren't mom and dad. My son is also in cub scouts. maybe you should look into girls scouts. They get to go camping and have all kinds of events around the holidays and are always going to different places. I know how you feel, anything that keeps them away from the t.v and keeping them active is a bonus.

I spend some quality time playing with my kids. taking a break from watching tv's and being online most of the time is needed. Some outdoor activities is also recommended for our kids to help them stay healthy.

Sounds like you are doing just fine! I have a 5 year old as well and in addition to what you mentioned we also like, cooking together (easy and artistic recipes!), dancing together (I have dance tapes that we try and follow along with), yoga together (great way to calm an active child down and keep them flexible!), exercise together (she jumps on the mini trampoline while I am on the elliptical), and play board games and easy card games together! Since your daughter likes art maybe arts and crafts would be good? I think the best thing me and my daughter do is taking classes that include children together. Like an art class that lets you bring your child along. Or a yoga class that includes children. That sort of thing. Right now I am teaching her sign language and that has been a nice activity to do with her.
