I do a little of both, but when the weather is good, I like to buy from the local farmers. Everyone is so nice and friendly. I always end up having a nice conversation with someone and maybe getting some great recipe ideas. Also, the prices are usually better than the stores. It makes me feel good to support someone locally rather than supporting a store. How do you feel about Farmers Markets?

Hi.I find this weird here where i live.I live in a small country town and no ones sells vegetables here at a farmers market or even in a little stand by the road, lol. All you see is potatoe fields for miles.Mostly all the fields here are owned by farmers who sell their potatoes to McCains Company for fries and such. The only place i buy my vegetables is at the local grocery store,if i want really fresh ones from a market i have to go to a nearby small city an hour from here.I love farmers markets and when i do go i buy swiss chared, radishes, tomatoes and such. They are always friendly and yes the women(older)just love to talk about their recipes for stuff and i love hearing the secrets from them on how they make their chow-chow(pickles,onions,mustard seeds and such)Hehehe:)

I do buy most of my groceries at the store but there's nothing like fresh garden fresh produce and I cash in on farmers markets in the summer time as much as I can. I have also bought from the hutterites they have awsome chickens. Take Care.

Unfortunately in India, The government has no willing power to create a farmer's market. Though for name sake it is called farmer's market, because of illeteracy among the farmers, the chunk of the profit goes to middlemen who are really unscrupulous and windlers. (Commission agents). In the absence of farmers market, my wife buys from grocery stores and vegetable markets.

Our local Farmer's Market does not have much selection, or at least it didn't when I visited there this summer. I mostly just go to Walmart's Supercenter because it is the cheapest. But I want to throw business to the Farmer's Market when I can.
