We have all heard about the raids on meat packing plants and other factories where ICE has gone in and rouneded up large numbers of illegal immigrants who were also guilty of identity theft.
I have actually heard some people saying it is "no big deal" for an illegal immigrant to use someone else's social security number to get a job; because, they "aren't stealing anything from the person" they are just trying to earn a living.
But, if you are th eperson whose identitiy is being used it is a "big deal".
Here is a link to a story about an illegal immigrant who stole another man's identity. It also tells how that theft actually affected the person whose identity was used.

So, if you believe your identity may have been stolen; "report it to the FTC via its website: www.ftc.gov. The site has a mechanism to report identity theft. Individuals can also make a report by telephone at 1-877-ID-THEFT (1-877-438-4338)."
The FTC works with ICE when the criminal is an illegal immigrant.
As, you can see from this story (and there are a lot more out there) identity theft by illegal immigrants is NOT a "victimless" crime.

Boy, aren't they getting creative? Maybe if they took some of the creativity and used it to better their own country they wouldn't keep trying to sneak over here. I feel for the guy that had his stolen.

That is part of the problem that I personally have with illegal immigrants. If their own countries have so many problems they should work at fixing those problems. We built our country and we have also had problems here; but, we didn't run off to some other country to take advantage of them. We stuck it out and fixed our problems.

It's a lot more serious and complicated than most people realize.
There are too many misconceptions about identity theft and many of them are deliberately spread by banks and credit card companies.
I'm a Certified identity Theft Risk Management Specialist (C.I.T.R.M.S.)
I could tell you about teh 5 types of PERSONAL Identity Theft:
financial;
criminal;
driver's license;
Social Security Number;
and medical.
However, there is a web video by a international expert that will let you know about it better than I could.
http://www.idtforhr.com/flash-replay/6853681
Then e-mail me for coverage against all 5 types.
It could save you from a nightmare that could last over 600 hours over 5, 10, 15 or more years.
Best wishes,
Joe

Joe,
You may want to be careful about pushing ANY product or site in discussions here on myLot.
They consider it a type of spam. That can get your responses and discussions deleted and to many times can get you banned from the site.
To get around that; you can give basic info in a response and say "if you want more info; check my profile". Then put additional information and links on your profile page. It is easy to customize and will help you stay our of trouble with the site.
