I crochet alot of things dresses, afghans, etc. I have tried to read and follow patterns , but for the life of me I cant seems to get it right ever. I can look at what someone else has done and sit and make it. And i am always coming up with something new . Is anyone out there like me? can you follow the patterns in the books?

I am definitely a pattern person! Although I can usually make something that I have in front of me also. I did make one afghan with no pattern and it turned out pretty good, but I wrote down what I did as I did it so I could do it again if I wanted to. I'm not that creative and don't have the patience to try to make all the different stitches go together by trial and error. You have a great talent!

I use to be just like you and not be able to follow a pattern out of a book. Then one day I wanted to make this beautiful baby blanket that I saw in a p0attern book and gave it a try. It came out beautiful. It is not that hard to follow for me (if it is crocheting) But when it comes to knitting I can not for the life of me follow a pattern so I make up my own. LOl!

Yes I can crochet! I have made several afghans, fancy doll dresses, baby blankets, baby sweaters, booties and hat sets. Once you get the hang of it, it is very easy. Now one thing I can't do and that is to knit. No matter how hard I try, it never works.
