I'm so excited right now, my husband and I are in the process of buying our first house. We just signed to have all the subjects removed, so now all we have to do is wait, our official move in date will be November 29th! I can't wait, we've been renting various places for years, I'm looking forward to owning our home and being able to personalize it and renovate more. I'm already making plans for ripping up half the garden so I can redo it with my favourite plants, and to put in a big vegetable garden. I just felt like I had to share the news with someone, is anyone else looking forward to an upcoming move or new home? Any advice for new first time homebuyers?

Congratulations! Moving into a new house must be very exciting! I don't know if I have any advice for you, as I have never really done this myself, but keep the house nice and keep up with your cleaning and housework! Lol but most importantly enjoy moving and I hope it's a great experience for you!

Aww, thanks everyone for your comments. And we will definately have to put more effort into keeping up with housework, I don't want it to be a mess like our apartment has been lately! It does have a dishwasher, which will be great for me, because doing dishes is probably my least favourite chore.

I can understand how you feel, we are iving in our first house since april and it's a fantastic feeling. The money I'M putting on renovation, it's all in my house. We still don't have furniture in the basement, but I will completly feel in a house when we will. can't really give youa dvice, because from a country to another, you will have different things to check for when you have a new house.
Hope you will enjoy your new life :)

Oh it is so exciting getting your own home, I bought my first little flat when I was quite young and being an unharried female at the time this was something great as in those days banks just didn't give loans to unmarried females but this was pay the deposit then pay like rent thing through a financial instituition, This was so exciting for me, I went home immediately and started packing, couldn't wait...even though I had to wait a couple of months, I lived around boxes in my bedroom...it is a very exciting time, I hope you will be very happy in your new home....

Congrats are due. That is one of my most exciting memories. I was 5 months pregnant with our first baby when we bought the house we are in. I was so excited to be able to make it my own and decorate as I see fit instead of letting our landlords make all the decisions.
We are selling the house now and looking for somewhere bigger that fits our family better. I am sad to leave the house where I brought my babies home to and made so many memories here. I just have to keep on remmebering that we will make more memories in our new home.

I am very happy for you! It is always nice to reach this accomplishment. I would love to buy a house, but we move so much with the military it is almost pointless. We are moving every three years. By the time we got settled in and made any renovations we would be moving and wouldn't have time to enjoy them. I would love to own my own home though!

Congrats!!When we bought this place I was excited cause its my first time owning a home (my husbands second time)...Its a great feeling to say the least and the place that we bought needed (still does) work so we got it for a good price but also since we have to tear down parts anyway when we work on each room we can totally personalize it....And when we have the money the landscaping will be SO exciting for me LOL, the ideas and plans I have are many!

Great !!! I wish you all the luck with your new house. But yes there are hundreds and thousands of things while you actually purchase or build any new house. The first and foremost is security and later comes ventilation, availablity of electricity, water, its neighbourhood surroundings, complete constructed and non-constructed area etc.
