This morning when I was taking my son to school we saw a rainbow. I didn't know there could be a rainbow if it had not rained. It had not rained in like a week. My son said that it was not a very prominent rainbow because it had not rained and it would get darker after it rained. Is this true? He is only 7 years old. How does he know so much? Is he right? Anybody know anything about rainbows? What actually causes them to appear?

I am guessing they can occur if there are rain clouds in the year and the sun is passing throu them, or rain that does not reach the ground, that cute what your son said, maybe he learned it in school

I did not know that there could be a rainbow if there was no rain either. Your son sounds like he is very smart. I'm not sure if he was correct, but the fact that he could come up with something like that is very impressive! Sounds like you have a very talented child!
