Has the mailman ever forgotten your mail?

I went out to check the mail today and I had outgoing mail out there that my hubby had put out there this morning. I had my flag up and everything and she left it in my mailbox. Everything had stamps on it. She put my flag down and left the mail in the mailbox and then put my today's mail in there on top of the outgoing mail. I really needed to get this one thing out pretty quickly but I guess I'm going to have to put it out there again tomorrow. I hope she takes it then. The other day she put my mail in there and there was a small box in it (the other mailman usually carries it up to my porch because he's so nice) and she pushed it out the back side of the mailbox. My mailbox has a front and a back on it. So when I went to get it out that day the back was open and half the stuff was sticking out plus that box.

When I lived in California the postal person told me that if they don't have mail for you then they're not obligated to pick up your outgoing mail. Such laziness!

That's crazy. I had a bunch of mail that she put in there but she just put it on top of the outgoing mail. I put it back in the mailbox today so hopefully she'll get it.

Well I'm with you on taking letters to the P.O. Any letters I'm mailing that are important is when I go directly to the source. Good point on the walking ... the mail carriers around here are in great shape!

They drive jeeps where I live. They don't walk around our area.

Forgotten my mail, no, given me the wrong mail....at least 5 time a year. You see, on my block, there are 3 different streets that have my home number. So, they tend to send me the wrong mail and then I have to put it out for the next day so they can deliver it to the correct home. Fed X and UPS does this too.

You should call the post office to alert them that the carrier never picked up your mail. They will leave a message with the driver to be sure to check for mail in your box. If the carrier was a substitute they often are rushing about because they aren't familiar with the route.

I thought about calling them but I didn't want them to think I was being mean or anything. For the past couple of days it has been a different person than usual so you're probably right...she might have been rushing and forgot to grab it out.

I think she had Mondayitis LOL I would have a word with her tommorrow if I were you, a nice word and see what she says. She might be having a not so good day and forgot what she did LOL I have not had this happen to me, I live in an apartment block and our mailboxes are altogether on the first floor. When our regular mailman is away and the substitute comes in, our mail is not delivered until late in the afternoon, and everyone gets at least one mail that is not theirs LOL

The other day my mailman forgot to mail a card I was sending out to one of my friends who just had a baby. Well, it didn't get sent out. My daughter went and picked up the mail and came back with the card. I had to put it back in the mailbox and hope he picked it up. One time I lived in a very rural part of Georgia and our mailman was a very odd duck. He would sometimes give us our mail and sometimes he wouldn't. He would give our mail to other people and give their mail to us. We would either have to put on the envelope that this was the wrong address or we would have to deliver the mail to the right people ourselves. Sometiems we would get knocks on the door for our mail too. It was just silly really. Sometimes we wouldn't get our bills at all and have to request new bills to be sent out. I was so glad when we moved.

One time I went and checked the mail and we had senior pictures for this boy down the road. My husband had to walk up the road and give them to him. I said what if someone else had gotten it and wasn't nice enough to take it back to him. He would have been without his senior pictures.

I live in a small town and at our post office everyone has a post office box so I dont have to worry about a mailman bring me my mail. and when I have to mail anything out we have to take it to the post office and it gets put into a bit bin to be sent out. I would call your post office and let them know what is going on and they could maybe talk with your carrier about it so that stuff like this dont happen again.

oh no. its because we dont have any mailbox and we dont buy our own stamps for our letters. ^__^ i dont know. maybe because we dont send to many letters. as far as i know, im the only one in our house that regularly sends and receives mail. and i dont feel the need to buy stamps and make the mailman pickup my letters. i always deliver my mails to the post office. ^__^ sometimes im lazy to do so but once im there, its fun. coz i get to paste my own stamp, i get to drop my own letter and i get to see how many people sends letters in a particular day. ^__^

Our mail here is really terrible. They are constantly delivering mail to the wrong place, losing it all together or having to bring the right mail back to you the next day. You'd think with all the money they get they'd get on the ball. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
