Don't push the matter. What I did with my son is I got him to pick out some cool cups that he would want to drink out of. Like sippy cups. I think I tried every single one. But eventually I found one that he liked.

Start right away. Get her a sippy cup and then take the bottle and say in as pleasant a voice as possible, "Now you can drink like the big girls do and like mummy and daddy!" Really praise her. The best thing to do is take the bottle away when she is asleep, make up an excuse that you had to give it to the tiny babies. We had no trouble with our sons, because we took the bottle away when they threw theirs away a little after six months old, and by the time they were one year old, they could drink a cup with one handle. There is a benefit of doing it early. The child gets used to it, or else she will hold onto the bottle until three years old.

When my son was 7 months old he was still on a bottle and was getting teeth, I noticed that he was making holes in the nipple. I then got him interested in sipping cups by showing him how to drink out of it. I would put water in in and say "mmm, yummy", he started becoming more interested in it since he say "mommy drinking out of it. It took about a month for him to start drinking out of it regularly, but I did try to show him everyday. Also I found that when I gave him the Gerber sippycup that had handles he didn't really like it, but I bought those cheap disposable ones without handles, he loved them. You may want to try a sippycup with a softer tip so that she can relate it more to a nipple. Some babies take longer than other babies, it may be that she is not interested in how sippycups work yet. You can also try just putting a little bit of water in a sippycup and put it down to play with so she can see how it works. If you have tried all those you may want to talk to your pediatrician for other ways to get her to start accepting a sippycup. Good Luck! :)

I didn't take my oldest daughter off the bottle til about 3 months ago. She's almost 3 (in March). I went through about 2 days of crying but I made a game out of it. I pointed to the bottle (my youngest) and stuck my tongue out and said ewwwwww........Then I showed her that she can get more in a sippy cup. I put her favorite drink it in. Then once she started really drinking out of the sippy cups I let her pour the tea, milk or whatever she was drinking then. I also threw all the bottles away the night before and when she woke up the next morning I said there isn't anymore and showed her.
