What do you love to do (besides watching cartoons LOL)? Are you interested in say volunteering for a local non-profit or other volunteer agency? Home improvements? Hobbies? I could go on and on but you're the expert on what floats your boat!

Having survived grad school my hat is off to you. Grad school is similar to being married for a few years! Most grad schools require that you take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and if you're not familiar with this beast of a test, that may be a task to pass the hours away. My scores on the stupid test limited the Ph.D. programs I could apply to. Academia is a bit softer on Master level studies and often take both your GRE score and your GPA into account. If you already know this stuff, forgive me for rambling on!

I handle boredom by reading a book,or cleaning house. Or I will hop on the computer and read my e-mails or answer posts here at myLot.

Being bored is a state of mind when you are fed up and sick of what’s going on or the lack of activity around you. Complacency also contributes to feeling bored. Boredom becomes a great concern when it results in procrastination, indecision and feeling listless and jaded.
The best way to avoid feeling bored is to make your life interesting by not sticking to too many routines. Another way is by making daily progress in everything that you do. You need to pay attention to your thoughts and daily activities and find ways not to submit yourself to drudgery and taking things for granted.
Some other fun ideas: make a collage, take a bath, make your own arm warmers, play video games, go to an arcade...there's plenty to do if you just put your mind to it.
In additon, try to work out why you are bored.

If you are bored because you are doing something that you have done many times before, then try adding something new or doing it a different way.
If the boring thing is a physical task you need to get done, try doing it to music or listening to a book on tape while you do it.
If the boredom is caused by feeling lazy or tired, take a nap if you can. Most people don't get enough sleep anyway.
If you are rested and still feel lazy try to convince yourself to do just one thing.. something small or short in duration or part of a task.
If you are bored because you feel you can't do the things you want to do then try to think up new ways to do the activity.
If you are bored because you can't think of anything to do then start by getting physically active. This will help you think well.
If you are bored because you are mad and can't find anything to do, call a friend to vent, maybe you'll think of something to do while you are talking to your friend and as you become unmad.
Change your thoughts. Your thoughts affect your behavior. By changing your mind about the meaning of your emotion and experiences, you will generate a different attitude. Get inspired with powerful long-range goals. Powerful goals keep you inspired. You can’t feel bored at the same time when you are motivated to build a life.
