Firstly, this is a nice post.
I feel, we need not have to be dominating in order to win or rule and softspoken ness, humility, politeness are not weaknesses. The more experienced and knowledgeable a person gets the more polite and decent he becomes. However, this in most cases, is considered as our weakness. Me personally, have experienced this time and again. My silence, my respect for others have been mistaken as my shortcoming!!
And what you have said regarding newly rich ppl and politicians, I have to say one thing- Money can't buy class.

Politeness and decency is not asign of weakness but a sign of strength. The British had to leave India under the strength of Mahatma Gandhi's politenessand resolve to carry out the strugge nonviolently.

I think that they probably think that is too good to be true and is hard for them to believe that some people can be decent and polite. Maybe to them you need to be dominant in order to be appreciated. Diplomacy is no longer on fashion because of terrorists.
