Personally I think it's hilarious that he got them to donate his fee for the article to jail guitar doors - The Mail (who usually moan about prisons being holliday camps) accidentally buying prisoners guitars :-)

Not sure about the Queen - I don't suppose it matters - accepting an honour from the Queen would be a different thing I think. As for writing in the Daily Mail (not sure about the topic now as the link you provide isn't to that article) but I'm all for lefties writing in right wing publications (and vice versa).......exposes the other side to different points of view - there is too much closeting in the media these days.
