I happen to belong to the Consumers Union Advocacy which often gives up-dates on the safety of various products out there for the consumer. I think many of us are getting fed up with all the products manufactured in China that have been recalled....from the ingredients that have been found in foods that proved to be contaminated...such as the famous pet food recall that caused thousands of pets to die..to the recent toys manufactured in China that have also been recalled.
I was so happy to see that Consumers Union now has a website with a petition one can sign on..It's called "Not In My Cart"
I think it's about time we stopped such inferior products from coming in, don't you?

I think it's great that the Consumers Union is doing this. I signed the petition and sent it along to friends and family who I know will also sign it. Something has to be done about this and now!

Do you have any idea what that would do to the price of things in stores like walmart. The reason that you can go to stores and find good buys on a lot of items if because they are made in China. I think the cost of examining all the products that come into the US from China would be way too high.

yes thats for sure BEFORE they are mde would even be better like the paint that has lead in it that are on toys that kids play with , my idea is that they thought they would get away with it more an dkill more of us is on purpose for they really hate Americans

Thank you for signing the petition Lakota :)
I think China needs to do strict regular inspections of their factories and inspect the items they make BEFORE they are exported, not after

It's definitely time we put a stop to these types of products being sent here. It's time we actually began using American made products instead of relying on cheaper products from China and elsewhere, of which China made products are proving to be rather unsafe. If I can help it, I'm going to try to avoid buying products made in China. Just no point in buying something that literally could kill me or someone else.

It's kind of hard to avoid any products from China...like gee...you look at labels of where things are made and it seems everything is made there

Thanks, Pye. I signed. I was wondering, are there recalls going on with other countries that China has shipped to, besides us? Is it just America? I would think Canada would get the same problem, but I really can't remember all I've read on the subject.

I would imagine China imports all over the world not just here--the real problem too, is that say even a product is made in this country..even a car...I just bet the "parts" that make up the car are made in China
It used to be the joke that everything was made in Japan...but never remember any recalls of their products.

Well it seems to many of the products are harmful that are made in China..even the toys that have lead paint on them--a real health risk for kids

Just recently in the UK we have been warned about childrens toys imported from China containing high levels of lead and other toxins. Poorly made and shoddy goods might be cheap but I would far sooner pay a little more for quality goods and safe toys for children.

So I see the UK has been hit with all these inferior products too...Yes, I would rather pay a bit more for quality products, made in one's own country than this cheaper crap that has potential health hazards

I also appreciate the site, pyewacket, and have already signed the petition. I think I might be becoming an activist, lol. There are so many things going wrong in our country that I would feel responsible if I didn't speak out on these issues. The petitions are a great way to make your voice heard.(:

Ah so you're joining the activist bandwagon with me? LOL And thanks ever for signing the petition...If more things were actually made in this country, think how many jobs would then be available

Hi pyewacket! We are also affected with the products coming here in our country and most of which are now being smuggled inside our country. But public officals are fighting hard but I am not sure about that because we can still see products overflowing with these products. I just hope that people will be more responsible in their manufacturing of products and not just think of the profits involved. Take care and I hope you will be very successful in the campaign. Take care and have a nice day.

The problem is dollars and cents...the products from China are usually so much cheaper that the ones made in one's own country...maybe we just shouldn't be relying so much on them

There may be things made from other countries that are hazardous, but it just seems too many are coming from China...they are able to produce very cheap products which is why the demand is for them

I'm going to sign the petition as soon as I hit "submit" here. It's getting more ridiculous every day! I heard that almost all of the apple juice sold in the US is made with apples from China! We don't have enough apples HERE??? I'm having some money struggles at the moment but I'll tell you what - I'm totally willing to pay a little more for things if it means I can feel that my family, my pets and I will be safer. It's a hassle to check out every label but I'm doing it.
