we just bought a portable aircon last week and i can say that its not bad.... its like a standard fan that you can put whenever you want. on your window or on your sliding door.. no need for installation.. and the good thing of it, is that you can bring it with you if you move on to another house :)
how about you guys? do you have a portable aircon? how many?
would you ever want to have one? :)

As much as I would love to, but I also have to consider the high cost of electricity here in our country!;) Though there are times hwere I can bear the heat, I would rely mostly on fans. I guess I'd have to think of buying that one day (portable or those fixed ones), when I finally got rich and that my house is already like a shopping mall!;)

We use a 110 instead of the 220 and the 110 is just as cheap as running a few fans but it keeps a few rooms tolerable and cool in hot weather. My brother in law was running fans in each room in his house and he talked to the electric company where we get out electricity form and they told him that running a portable 110 air conditioner unit would be more cost efficent then all those fans running all the time with the air condiitoner atleast his house now stays cool and it actually cut his bill by a few dollars especially if you get a energy efficent one that kicks off when it hits a certain temperature. Well I hope one day you will be able to get what ever you want and be able to use what ever you want without second thought.

I have a portable air conditioner that my husband puts in the window every summer and takes out for the winter we don't leave it in the window all year because to much heat would escape. I do have 4 portable window box fans as well. My sister has a portable floor air conditioner that has a hose that hooks to a window and sucks in air to be cooled it is a little noisier then mine but it cools a room just fine possibly better then mine and cost $495 but it can easily be moved from room to room just by unhooking the hose and pulling the handle since it is also on wheels. It also is a heating unit it heats and cools both. No hose is needed when it is being used as a heating unit

My husband just took ours out of the window yesterday since we have been having alot of cooler weather. We had a hot summer can't say that I am not glad that it has cooled off enough to take it out. Have a nice day.

That was cool! I would want to have one but I guess not for now, I'm ok with electric fan I have in my room..We cannot afford it right now and the extra cost of electricity that comes with it.
But sure..I would love to have it someday.

oh i dont know if i will buy one. here in our apartment there is an aircon already and it can be used as heater too during the winter. if ever we will rent an apartment without aircon maybe i will avail a poratble one, coz here we cant just install something without any permit or notice.

We tried looking for one months ago before my sister's family came for a 1 month vacation... but we were unsuccessfull... portable aircon is not available in my country yet so they had to bear with the heat and to just use an electric fan when they are not in a room with airconditioning...
It would be cool though to have one in the house...

Hello jHoEn16,
Is it something like cooling air tower? I think I saw that before in shopping malls but never intend to buy one. But I did try the machine and it wasn't bad at all. Maybe, I should buy one for my baby. He can't stand the heat (we are living in a country with hot and humid climate) and the mom can't stand the air-conditioner. Very difficult situation...

I have one, and it cools a room sufficiently but I am not happy with having to be sure it is vented out the window, and making sure the condensate runs out of the unit and preferably not onto my floors. I will buy some window units next year. I am trying to get away from heating and cooling the whole house, and would prefer just to have units in the rooms to heat or cool when I need it, and no other time. I think that is much more economical.

I had one (when we lived with my parents) but it was just not doing it for us. It was only cooling one room, it was expencive to run and the noise was killing me. In our house we have ducted cooling and I love it. No noise it is cool all over the house and you dont freeze if you sit under it but you are boiling hot 5 feet away the temperature is the same all over.

I have seen portable aircon before but I dont have one. I still use the wall-mounted unit. I want to have one portable aircon though if I will not consider the cost.
It may be too expensive. One or two would be fine.
Great day!
