...Since I was young and until now I usually encountered during supine position/lying on back...Until now I don't know really the cause of it...it's really a struggle for me to wake up when ever had a bad dreams...hence I usually avoid to sleep at supine position.

I do not remember that last time I had a nightmare, so it must have been a long time ago. I rarely remember my dreams wither though, so it is possible that I have has them and do not remember them. That is strange that sleeping in a different position can give you nightmares. I think I would avoid sleeping on my back as well if I were you.

My old grandmother used to tell me that sleeping on my back would cause bad dreams. At the time, I thought it was an old wives tale. But, I had a couple of episodes of sleep paralysis (the feeling that something is in the room, but you can't move). I researched it, and found that reportedly sleeping in the supine position (on your back) can aggravate the condition. Later, I began paying attention, and nearly every single time I had a bad or terrifying night terror, it was when I had somehow turned over and went to sleep on my back. I rarely ever have bad dreams if I sleep on my side or stomach. Even if I take a small nap, I have to be careful not to sleep on my back or the bad dreams may possibly come. I assume it is a case where blood flows to a different part of the brain more easily if you sleep on your back, and it triggers nightmares if you are subject to them. It is most certainly true...I have confirmed it many times.

Hi there enru246, I don't experience nightmares. I mean I rarely do, but you know i end up by waking up not remembering what i dreamed of. But i know to myself that it was a nightmare but i couldn't just picture out what happened! :))

When I was young I uused to sleep walk but the only time I had nightmares was when the doctor put my on some medication. They only lasted until I finished taking the meds. The only other time was when I was under a lot of pressure and was emotionally overwhealmed by it all. I would hate to have nightmares all the time and feel for people who do.
