This has such actors as Patrick Swayze, Forest Whitaker, Johnny Cash, Hal Holbrook. I rented the whole thing and I'm about halfway through. It gives a history about the Civil War times. It is a very interesting movie, and the actors do a great job. Also, the costumes and scenery are wonderful. I can't get over how beautiful some of the women's dresses are. Have you seen it, and what did you think? I would recommend this movie to any one looking to learn more about the Civil War area, the North vs. South conflict, slavery, and plantation life during the mid-1800's. Also this movie is fairly "family friendly" since it was made for TV in the 80s.

I liked it. I rooted for Orry and Medeline and Billy and Breet.

Yes, I can't get over what a nice looking couple Orry and Madeline were.

Yes, I saw this series when it was on the television. I will have to look into buying it. I enjoy almost anything to do with the Civil War era, especially when it explores friendships and family relationships. I also read the books on which the series was based, and enjoyed them very much as well.
