I'm in English 111 and learning how to write, but still am struggling in the class. How does one improve in writing? What are some good techniques?

Reading is the best method that you could do in order to enhance and improve your writing skills. Knowledge about the basic patterns and skills while making or constructing a sentence is also important, as this really helps a lot in order for you to write an effective writing. Proofreading and editing your sentence is also necessary to improve your writing skills. Wish you luck! Have a nice day and God speed!

There are free sites on the Internet that will help with things like grammar and punctuation. I have also ran into sites that will help you to improve your writing skills when writing articles and stories. I started a blog to help those who are in need of writing help. You can find it at http://writingforus.blogspot.com/ this will offer a few tips that will get you started. The best thing for you to do is to stay with the classes. Classes offer one on one help and can be much better than reading off of a computer screen. There are also great tips on here that other people have already written like reading often. This will help you to see how character is built, the dialogue of the story, and what order is best to place sentences and structure in. Just pay close attention when reading and take note of different writing skills. Every writer write different and this is the magic of writing.

Well, taking a class is always good, so keep up with that. Practicing, finding a style you like, and trying not to put to much stress on yourself is important, but the best thing I can think of to help is READ! Reading helps you understand mechanics and usage, and helps with your grammar. It helps you better understand language. You can get a feel fo different styles and incorporate them into your own. And it broadens your imagination. I like to read a lot, so it is easy for me to write short stories. Just remember to keep trying because like anything, writing takes practice! You won't be the best when you start but you will get better. All the best, Commonsense0
