When do you put up your Christmas tree?

Christmas tree - How early is too early to put up your tree?

I know it isn't even Halloween yet, but I was in the store the other day and the Christmas stuff is already coming out. Also I have a neighbour that puts up their tree in early November. I think that's just a tad early. I usually put my tree up in early Decemember and then take it down after new years. When do you put up your Christmas tree and when do you take it down?

We usually decorate and put up our Christmas tree during the first week of December. We do not put in advance like November, though some of our neighbors do. We have a small Christmas tree and it is really cute. We decorate this with some mistletoe, toys, stars, and balls. The last but not the least, Christmas tree will be incomplete if there is no Christmas light. Have a nice day and God speed!

I dont put our tree up til about the first week of December. I dont know why everyone has to rush Christmas I think it is the best time of the year. The stores have been putting christmas things out for the last month here, next thing you know you will be able to buy fireworks at Easter time.. As I see it we have 69 more dys til Christmas and I will keep my slow pace and enjoy it.

By the time Christmas does roll around I always feel like I've almost had enough of the decorations and stuff. It's because of the stores all putting it out so early that you get tired of seeing it. I think it takes away from what a great time of year it really is.

Yeah, that does seem a little early to me too. I guess everyone has their own traditions! We usually wait to put ours up until maybe a few weeks before Christmas. Now that we have an artificial tree, we leave it up until around New Year, but we used to take it down a day or two after Christmas back when we used a real tree just cause it would get so dried out and the needles would be everywhere, lol.

We have an artificial tree now too. I hated cleaning up the needles all the time. They smell really nice and everything but the upkeep wasn't realy worth it to me.

We always use to end up with a huge tree too. Now we have a fake tree so its the same every year. I don't know why the other trees were always so big. More for your money I guess.

We kind of started a new tradition when the kids were born. The tree goes up right after Thanksgiving dinner and supposedly we take it down while watching the Rose Bowl on New Year's day. The second part is always harder. We like to procrastinate.

we usually put ours up the first weekend after Thanksgiving. and then take it down the day after New Years. you know i was out shopping a couple of weeks ago and the stupid stores have TONS of xmas stuff out!! i had gone to Wal-mart and they actually had more xmas stuff than halloween stuff on display and thats counting the candy!! just crazy...i estimate that in about 4 years..xmas stuff will be displayed with 4th of July stuff..and the whole thing declared that "Christmas in July" slogan LOL!

I wouldn't doubt it. It really seems like Christmas things are coming out earlier every year. It kind of kills the Christmas mood when the time is right because you've been saturated wiht it for almost two months before hand.

I generally decorate the inside of the house some time during the first week of December. I have a black tree and purple decorations and purple lights, and I made a *goth* fairy for the top of the tree with bat wings instead of angel wings. I also have black garlands with purple tinsel and a set of purple lights for the window. I like to be different:-) I always make sure the decorations are down before the 5th January.

I have to say that was really to early in my taste. I do not take the tree from the seller until the same week the Christmas starts. I believe that we are weeping Christmas out and starts to early. I put candles in the windows last of November, change curtains and start cleaning for the weekend. I love Christmas and all the stuff we decorate with. But I do not want to see them in the store that early. That make me a bit stressed. You have to by gifts for the event. You have to get the food before the event. I mean, think about it......it starts to stress me out to see those things to early.

I think that may be the point. I think that the stores want you to be in panic mode when your shopping because that way you spend more and think less. Plus you forget that you already bought a gift for a particular person and you buy another. It's a great way for stores to make extra money.

For us, hubby & I agreed that we are going to put up our christmas tree and christmas decors. In the Philippines, people used to put christmas tree and decors as early as end of September because for us there we sort of start celebrating Christmas when -ber months start. However, hubby told me that in here we are going to put it after the thanksgiving.

Wow the end of September would be really early to put up a Christmas tree. Did you get tired of having it up so long? When would you take it down?

Well I started putting my tree up in November but that is because I bought some brown, yellow, orange and red ornaments and I decorate my tree for Thanksgiving with fall leaves and white lights. It is so much fun. Then I take them all down and my christmas tree is blue and silver with beautiful blue and silver grapes and ribbon. I have some little forest trees one in my entry way decorated with green and red and all my ornaments from when I was little and then one in my kitchen that I decorate with treat ornaments, candycanes, fake sugar cookies and candies. I love this time of year. Maybe in a few years I will start getting halloween ornaments (they do sell them) and decorate with black and orange for Halloween we'll see. But I do agree it is too early to decorate for Christmas. I guess some people get too excited to wait.

That sounds beautiful. They sell little Halloween trees too. They have the bones of a Christmas tree but none of the needles. It's suppose to be spooky I guess.

The hubby and I always wait until we get into the Christmas spirit (usually the 2nd or 3rd week of December) to put up the Christmas tree. It really is weird how Hallowe'en isn't even over yet and already it's Christmas stuff in every store! PurpleTeddyBear

Really! I put my Christmas tree every after Halloween. But last year we put our Christmas tree a few days before Christmas, because of the typhoon damage by Reming. But somehow I don't want to put mine, but my family insisted.

we put up a tree on the second weekend in december. since it's always real, it usually only lasts about 3 weeks. i take the tree down on new years day. there's nothing like trekking out into a tree farm with all of the snow, cold, and wind, and finding the bushiest most best tree to cut down. :) oh, and the hot apple cider afterwards makes it all worthwhile.
