hi there. what a lovely thing you have done for this dog. to rescue is truly one of the greatest kindnesses. i don't know a huge amount about strokes i'm sorry to say. but may i suggest that you do hydro therapy for you new friend? it is low impact you can get in with him so he can have support and comfort from you. it is a great activity for strengthening the muscles again, is not a strain on the body and a lot of animals really enjoy it. best of luck to you both. :)

First i would suggest that a vet other than the shelters vet take a look at the dog to make sure it was treated properly and to get him on preventives to prevent it from happening again. There is no way to fix the damage from the initial stroke but a stroke is alot less serious for a dog than it would be for a human. there is also more than one type of stroke that a dog can suffer you should defiently find out the medical name for his stroke and do some research on it on the computer
