"So Far So Good" is my favorite words as my reply when people greets me with 'Hi, how are you?". I don't know why and it just spontaneously happened to me.
Even though sometimes I knew or noticed that it is just a facetious or flimsy statement from me especially when at that particular time I am not in 'so good' in my real life.
It recalls my guilty feeling, deeply, for that words when listening to one song by Hall Mark for Voice of Truth. And started thinking of changing it to new precise words, but not for 'I'm fine, thank you', because it is too common. New precise words to substitute 'so far so good'.
This is a sincere question from me and I am not for number of posting or earnings in this matter. I hope members here can give any idea related to my question.
Your insight, please.
Thank you very much for your participation.

Williamjisir: How are you, my dear good sign?"
Good sign: So far so good.
That is really cool to use this phrase to just say "I am fine, thank you and you?" to make your reply outstanding or different from the same reply that the majority would say. I used to hear my American colleague say so and this topic reminds me of her once again. I hope that all of my friends are so far so good. Me, as well. So far so good. Thanks, good sign. Good night.

When people ask me "how are you?", and I happen to be in a good mood, I would tell them "I'm good, thanks! And you?" But when things aren't really fine with me at that particular moment, I would easily tell anyone "well, not really ok today, but will probably be fine later." So when things are not really ok with me, I make it a point not to go out so much so that I don't have to pretend things are ok when they're actually not. But I really like that statement "so far, so good"! I think I could use that too, every now and then!

Good to hear! Most of the time when you ask people how they are you get a one word answer like 'Fine' sometimes you know they are not fine but they just say that because they don't want to be truthful and start saying there are problems because they may respect the fact that you don't want to be bothered with them. And they are expected to say they are ok even if they are not.

sometimes people ask HOW ARE YOU, but does not really care if you are good or not. so i think it is okay to say SO FAR SO GOOD, or ALIVE AND KICKING. but if a real friend or family ask you how are you then i think it is okay to tell the truth. if you dont feel ok then tell it to them.
when my hubby is home from work and ask me How are you, i say im good if i am really good and i say tired if im really tired. but if a cashier at the grocery ask me how are you then i just say im ok.... whether it is the truth or not.

Hello goodsign,
I work in a public place,so when when someone asks me how are you, i usually respond with Great how are you? they normally laugh cause they know. Or i will respond to....."Do you want the thruth or a lie?" they laugh then too. People normally will know if you are honest with them or not. But the majority of the time i grin and bear it, and tell them im fine, how are you? We are and will be fine sweetie, just grin and bear it....Love,Toni xoxox

That was great Toni, I respect your working attitude and work place. Because handling customers is a great learning for self motivation. And you have had good jokes with customers, friendliness what makes you happy and grin is a good facial exercise.
Anyway, thanks for your participation. Happy Posting.

Maybe when people greets me with 'HI,how are you?' , my answer is the common 'I am fine ,thank you ,and you?',I don't know meaning of 'so far so good',it means that if you leave away from me as long as good?I think it would be you tag , you say it so easy,as somebody when he speaking ,his first voice is 'well ...'.
