I want to talk about some of the discussions in MYLOT. Caps lock or shift?, enter or mouse?, toilet paper?, over or under?, paste or gel? AHHHHHH!!!! These are pointless, meaningless discussions. Who gives a rats a**?! But, they get hundreds of responses. Is that just easy points for people? I'm probably just bitter because my discussions don't get many repsonses.

well, lets face it. we earn the same thing, whether we contribute to tasteful or tasteless topics. and sometimes, i am so tired, my mind is blank but i still want to participate. so i just answer those easy topics, where i can just answer yes or no without having to justify my answers. anyway, i do hope you get many responses for this one. not that we really earn from responses, but it does feel good when our topics become popular. :-) be cool! take care ! :-)

I thought these type of discussions were routed out by the powers that be and deleted, because they are of no use whatsoever, I always avoid them because they are a waste of time and sure as eggs are eggs you lose points and time from answering them because pretty soon Mylot catches up with them and deletes them! Good to have a rant, but sit back and have the last laugh because your discussions are worth more and won't be deleted!

So, why are discussions deleted? I like the controversial, and conversations that elicit a lot of different opinions.

Hiya, Wolfie, It's good to see you back. I usually avoid the banal discussions the original poster doesn't like and therefore have avoided losing points and pennies. But recently it's the controversial discussions that are going 'POOF' and I am losing said points and pennies. There was one the day before yesterday in politics that was definitely intended to elicit 1,000 responses and I replied to it and even got myself quoted and BLAM, gone before it got to a dozen responses. I'm pouting. Sometimes ya can't win for losing!

LOL! I couldn't agree more! I've been on holiday for a week and away from myLot and computers in general. On returning I decided to take a quick look at myLot, (I mist admit I hadn't missed it at all in my absence), and was really depressed by what I found. This place used to be fun - but bluntly nowadays, it seems to be full of either daft, meaningless "toilet paper" type discussions, badly written topics by people who can't speak English and just want to make a quick $ regardless of the lack of sense in their topics, or else, endless reams about other peoples' families - which frankly (and not meaning to be cruel) I am totally disinterested in. Oh and did I mention the loads and loads of "how to make money from home" cr*p which bores me even more. So I am taking a break from here as of now - probably a permanent one - certainly a fairly long one - I will just pop in occasionaly to check if I have any PMs from any of my friends I wish to keep in touch with. I wish you luck in your endeavours here!

I guess great mids do run in the same channel because I've been thinking of saying much the same as you say here. I've tried telling myself that one person's stupid, trivial, mindless, pointless drivel may be someone else's brilliant, thought-provoking topic but, come on...what's your favorite letter of the alphabet? How often do you pee? I made these up, but maybe they ARE for real and I missed them...lol! I'm with you in feeling the frustration of seeing these types of discussions getting tons of responses and going on forever while some of mine, that I really put a LOT of thought into get few or no replies. In my opinion the really pointless ones are the ones that should be deleted, then maybe evryone would try a bit harder and we're get a larger percentage of really good discussions that make us think! I'm not here for the points and the little bit of money I earn is just a bonus, I'm here to meet new friends and have some brain stimulating chats. Thanks for bringing this to our attention! Annie

As a new member this interest me. I learned after the first day that I got the same $ regardless of the length of my response. Does quality count at all?

Well there goes the money, since it is what triggers these people to post for easy ones. Remember, easy post = easy money!LoL Sometimes I respond to them, but not respond to a pageful of similar topics as those. I choose which is mostly deserving for me. Sometimes, these posts also have "good content" attached in it. So I read before I post, choose which I feel makes sense to me!;) Same as you, I don't recieve much responses but it is because I start LESS discussions. But I have observed that people tend to choose which they feel are picked by a huge number of posters, instead of choosing helpful and meaningful discussions.

I find that when I invite more people to be friends, sooner or later one or more them will answer my thought provoking discussions, but I sure wish the ones that answer my posts on novel writing would be authors themselves and those who have been working on novels for sometime, instead of wanttobees or those who have just started. Anyway I will look at your posts and see if I can respond to any.

Ranting is allowed - still, I hope :) I understand what you mean, but you know, all those are safe topics that probably won't be deleted for this or that reason. People might feel more comfortable knowing that there is less chance that their discussion will be deleted. You will also find that those kinds of discussions have many responses because they don't really require any special language skills and there are many members that are still learning english so they also migh feel safer answering something that is easier. Sure , it's easy points, but it's points. WHen I started here I used to have plenty of excellent discussions to choose from. Quality discussions. At that time I was also getting paid much more than what I am now for each discussion, response etc. Things changed. People left. QUality is not always that high. If I want to make payment I"ll answer all the good discussions that I can find - the ones that interest me - and them some that are just to make my quote - can't be any more honest than this :) Of course people always have a choice. WHen a discussion bother me, I just don't read it or respond to it. That's as far as I go.

there are a lot of rubbish discussions on mylot to wade through before you find the good ones, but it's worth it when you do find the interesting ones. I only answer thoughtful and/or interesting discussions but it seems many people answer these easy question discussions anyway just to earn a cent.

No bonbon, it is getting ridiculous. I think also that the recent rash of deleted messages has also, put people in a passive discussion mode, and toilet paper seems to be a "safe" topic to discuss. I mean, really, how many times can one discuss toilet paper???

Invite friends you think make intelligable threads or discussions, then you can leave out the rabble and such :D Its a forum, and most of what gets written here doesnt match most others. Some like random chit chat, and would spent all their time on such a section if a forum was cut in sections. Some would keep in a business section, and some in the cooking section. Its all up to who reads and responds. Fx. Im an atheist, but that doesnt mean I dont like to take part in religious discussions. I dont have a car or driverslicense but I still know a lot about driving and cars though, and sometimes likes to learn more or discuss things related to these things. I dont usually respond to discussions that asks me if I have a cellphone or not, I find those retarded too. Thats why i just dont open those threads and look inside.

I just had to laugh at your posting, hahahaha....You feel exactly the same way I do!..but it did make me smile at least. How about the one's that don't make ANY sense at all?...I sit here going "What???!!"....I have no idea what they're talking about! Yes, and you're right, they do get alot of responses which I don't want to even bother with them. I like to answer fun questions, like yours....haha.....take care, I understand.

well there really are many unsubjective discussions out there and some actually are just unintelligent queries without so much of a detailed description and instead, the discussion content is just a question the same as the topic. and some are just somewhat reiterations of old discussions which probably they didn't encounter before or they just copied it (i hope not). at times its annoying but at times, they become helpful especially at times when my mind is running blank and I don't feel being subjective or I don't want to think hard or think back just to relate myself to the discussion. so these easy discussions really help because I wouldn't want a day to pass without posting a thing here in myLot and become a ghost for a day. ^__^;; as much as possible I want to be active. besides, its better to reply to a discussion a friend started because that way we are helping each other. ^__^

Aww--rant away my friend, rant away....The majority of my discussions are usually "serious" ones....like I did a series about the whole Law of Attraction thing, and yes did get a good many responses..but I have to admit I'll start some wacky ones myself...like one time I did a "silly" one about what do you wear around the house, or have you ever broke "wind" except it wasn't wind? Uh, those got a tremendous amount of responses as opposed to my more serious ones..go figure...

Yea! This is really weird, and perhaps somedays back i decided to quit mylotting just like this burn out which you are experiencing.. But at some point,i feared that i may be losing some of my friends here.. so i decided to stay on, but have made up the mind that not to answer those discussions.

I will occasionally participate in these discussions, mainly when I'm too tired, depressed, etc. to join in the more cerebral discussions. It's also a refreshing change to see them when I go down the list and think "I don't know anything about that, don't know anything about that...AH! There's something I know about!" And for the record: Shift, mouse, under, gel.
