Since winter's coming soon in Finland, my face gets dry easily. Since I have a tight shopping budget, I decided to try using extra virgin cooking olive oil as face moisturizer. So far so good. I'm not allergic to it and it's actually working better than the moisturizers I have. Just wondering if anyone else has ever tried it and if so, how do you like it? Has the experience been positive? My doctor friend says that it's also good to rub in your belly during pregnancy to avoid stretch marks. Well, since it seems to have worked pretty well on my face, I think this has been the cheapest moisturizer I have. I bought 500 ml of it for only €3.31 (around $4).

I use a mixture of olive oil and sugar as a cleanser when my skin is unusually bad. The sugar works to exfoliate without being too harsh, and the olive oil is an excellent moisturizer, as you've said. You can also use salt in the mixture instead of sugar, but I've found that to be too harsh for my skin.

Hi, new waver! Sugar, eh? I'll remember it next time. A friend of mine suggested salt as face scrub, but you found it too harsh, eh? THANK YOU for the input. ;-D

You're welcome. :) I think I found the salt to be too harsh just because my skin is kind of sensitive, so sugar worked better for me. But since they're both types of small granules, either kind would probably be good for exfoliating, depending on skin type.

Yeah, it depends on the skin type, I guess. I'll try both of them then and see which one suits me best he he he...

I never try it on my face, but I use it pretty often on my hair.It is something great how it can repair your hair and make them smooth and shiny. Also I use it like exfoliatior with sugar.Yeah you are right it is cheap and also natural and you know what you are outting on your face instead all those products from the bottle, when we don't really know what it consist.

Hi, laurika! Ahhhh...it's good for hair, too? WONDERFUL!!! And yeah, the best thing about olive oil is that it's natural. Indeed we don't know what's put inside bottles of moisturizers or other make-up products.
