Chips and curry?

October 18, 2007 12:08pm CST
Hi! I'm wondering if anyone can direct me to a good recipe for chip shop-style curry sauce. There's a chip shop in my neighborhood, but I'd like to be able to make it on my own, in case I get a midnight craving and don't feel like walking 1/2 a mile! Thanks in advance. :)

The reviewer for this recipe said it is the recipe she was looking for, that was served in a Irish Pub that serves chips and this. Maybe you can get some and take it home from the chip shop? Curry Dip It is also excellent on potatoes and other veggies." 3/4 cup mayonnaise 1/4 cup sour cream 2 tablespoons curry powder In a medium bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, sour cream and curry powder.

Hmm, that's quite different than any recipes I found online, but it sounds promising! I don't know what it is about chip shop curry, because it's definitely not high cuisine, but once you eat it, you're hooked. Thanks for recipe! I'll give it a try this weekend. :)

The sauce we fell in love with on vacation in Thetford was a nice golden, thick one... I'd given up ever finding out how to do it... I really hope someone knows that one, and can give BOTH of us a treat!

Yes, that's the kind I'm thinking about too! I tried the recipe in the first response to this post. It wasn't the same, but it was very nice. I haven't tried the second suggestion, but I will soon. It may end up that we both have to buy a jar of Bisto curry sauce granules!
