I have a one year old daughter who I have been very careful in discipling. One is too young to spank, but I am wrestling with the decision. Should I or shouldn't I (in the future of course). What about in your home? Do you spank your children? Why or why not? Thanks!

Me, too. I have also a one year old daughter and I am very careful when I discipline her. Every children have a unique behavior and a unique attitude toward other. Spanking is not the answer, instead we need to show them the beauty of love and respect, so that she or he know what is a good sign of a good behavior. Beside that we need to show them what we are, if we show that we have a bad attitude, that is an example for them. Having a good parent is having a good children. We are the model of our children and we must show to them.

I was spanked as a child and I turned out fine. The problem today is that some parents don't know the difference between spank and abuse, and it makes it very difficult to draw the line somewhere. I still give my son (10) a smack on the bottom when he gets out of hand and that seems to keep him intact for a few months. This will always be a difficult topic.

Well sweetie this is a very "touchy" subject. I was spanked as a child and I spank my kids, that doesnt mean that it is right for everyone else though. its a choice you have to make. I started smacking hands when my boys were small, and even then they looked at me like whatever. Children know right from wrong at a young age. I also use time outs and take things away too. I do that first. I believe my children would be horrible if i did not spank them. Now again this is how i run my home. Good luck in making your choice.
