Well that the thing I am also from a country where we do not celebrate Halloween, I think we just started to celebrate about 10 years back, but anyway i is just for kids, and there are no pumpkins involved.
Anyway it was a great experience... I really enjoy it, amd I hope to do it again , and again , and again...

I used to do it every year, and I don't even have kids! Somehow, over the past three or four years, I've gotten out of the habit. It really is a lot of fun though. I miss doing it and maybe this year I will start doing it again.

Isn't pumpkin carving FUN? I have done it since I was a child, and I taught my children to do it when they were really young too. My daughter is now 17, but she is still into doing it. As a matter of fact, she is painting the three smaller pumpkins tonight, and carving the two big ones tomorrow after school. I usually let her do it since she does such the awesome job. I can't wait to see what she does with them. Congrats on your pumpkin carving hon.

I made an attempt to carve a pumpkin, I think it was, when I took a cooking class. It was a disaster. Not only that, I discovered that I actually did not like pumpkin pie. I do not even like pumpkin spices. I will eat the pie but I am usually thinking where is the lemon meringue or where is the apple pie. You realize when I read this title, I was thinking of something else entirely different.

Hi terrych,
I bet you were excited to carve a pumpkin for the first time. I can't even remember the first time I carved a pumpkin, I think it was when I was 4 or 5. We had a pumpkin every year growing up and so my brother and I wouldn't fight we'd each get one! Since I have been on my own I have always carved a pumpkin every year and greeted the trick or treaters with sweets for them.

ha! you are so silly! good way to catch our attn!!
gee, i think i first carved a pumpkin at the sweet age of 3 or 4. well, with the kind help of my parents of course. i would (attempt) to draw the face and they would carve.
as we got older we carved them ourselves, but that was only after the carving kits came out, less dangerous than a big serated knife!!
we each got our own pumpkins growing up. we're going to get a couple this year for my son. we already have the carving kit with the book of patterns, and he's picked out the patterns he wants us to do.
i will be cleaning out the pumpkins, toasting the seeds and such, and my hubby will carve, he hates cleaning and scraping the guts out, haha! so i told him i'd do that and he can carve, no problem!! they have some great designs in there, make you look all professional, but then i miss being able to make your own jack-o-latern face sometimes...

I am 30 years old too. I think I was about 15 the last time I carved a pumpkin. I need to get a big one to carve for my son this year. He is 8 this year, so I think he can handle it. Before now he would have just gotten frustrated and quit halfway through.
