Career Change

I have been an Early Childhood Assistant for almost 4 years. I recently quit my job because I couldn't handle the stress anymore and I really need a career change. I want to get into the technical field. Something like Technical Support. I know a lot of computer software such as Microsoft Office. I am not sure how to do the career change or how to make my resume without having experience in this field. Does anyone have any suggestions? Can you help me?

I hear you. You job was stressful enough. I teach and I feel that after over 20 years in this job I'm ready for a safer and less stressful job - like maybe lion tamer, dragon fighter , or the lady that stands while the guy with a scarf over his eyes keeps throwing knives all around her LOL Your first step is to start looking for what career you are looking for and take a look at what the most common requirements are. If there is something you need more experience with or something that you don't have yet try to get it as much as possible. For technical support you can certainly include the fact that you are a good communicator - every early childhood educator needs good communication skills so you'll be covered on that one , think about it: many adults act worse than children at times... so you'll be quite a few steps ahead LOL SOmetimes they also ask that the person speaks more than one language, so if you know another language that might help you too. ANd of course you will need to know about whatever technical support you'd be given LOL

You're welcome:) Of course you could add that you can work well under pressure - which is something I know you have to do often as an early childhood educator - but then again I guess that's what you're trying to get away from LOL
