The infinite goodness of God and His purpose must overwhelm and overshadow every other consideration in our mind. Paul had the sound, sensible balanced perspective when he said- "Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." G.V. Growcott

Who is/was G.V. Growcott? You have been introducing me to some new people. He was very right in this quote. The power of God can be overwhelming to think of, in a good way.:)

I am not sure who he is/was. A friend sent me these works a while ago. I am reading them for inspiration for me and sharing them with you.

So very true. Paul had an affliction he begged God to take away, and God didn't. I imagine it is something I never had to deal with. Knowing that our problems here work towards the awesome realm of Heaven is often comforting to me. Great quote from G.V. Growcott.

Yes, Paul did speak of a thorn in his side. He prayed to have it removed and God di not removed it. I think that there are some things that God will leave in our lives to keep us on our knees. I believe that it was Jacob who wrestled with the angel, he got a limp, but it never went away. I guess it was there to remind him of his victory.

You want to hear something funny and totally un-Biblical? My dad is a pastor, so I was in church all time. So I knew about Paul and the thorn in his side very young. That is probably why for years I thought the thorn in his side was that he had red hair. I don't know where that came from! I'm thinking I was young and asked an adult, and they teasingly told me that. But I believed it! None of the other kids even knew about that, so I just kept on believing! LOL

I like it where Jesus said, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsley say all kinds of evil against you beacuse of me." I naturally would resort to being offended and hurt and walk away in shame... But then Jesus said instead of being depressed and defeated, "...REJOICE and be GLAD, because great is your reward in heaven,..." That is so powerful becuase it means that if I am in the right doing right and loving right, and someone comes along and tries to leverage their guilt and condemnation onto me, they are in direct violation with the very words of Jesus Christ. Therefore God sees the blood of Jesus covering me and pardons me from all accusitions. And on top of even all that, I get a reward for just believing. the book of Proverbs says, "The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous." It should be pointed out, however, that the person who is doing the insulting and gossiping, is not the originator of the offense. This person is only a medium by through the Accuser of the Brethren, the Devil, is manipulating. "We do not battle against flesh and blood...." I love how we the believers do not have to consern ourselves with judging others all the time. All God commanded us to do is to love one another, even as He loved us.

Jesus also said that they hated him long before they hated us. He said, if you have done it unto the least of them, you have done it unto me. He also said, touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm. We as saints are anointed of God to serve on this earth.
