Nice discussion!
I am from Bangladesh and I speak bengali. Although I can speak some other languages.
In bengali, Thank you= Dhonnobad tomake.
Notice the word "tomake". It means the word "you" in english for a person who is usually your friend or a person who is your same-aged.
In Bengali There are 3 meaning of "you"
Apni = To be said who is older than you or a respectable person. Also used to point superior.
Tumi/Tomake= Persons who are same aged or good friends.
Tui= Persons who is younger or inferior. Very common to greet bosom friends.

Hi, I'm from Poland and in my country "thank you" is "dziekuje"... well you may see some weird e in the word:/ It may be very hard to pronounce, I think. And it isn't even possible to explain the phonetics of it using english, because it doesn't have such sounds xP Well, polish is said on of the most difficuld languages to learn.

In our vernacular it is "Maraming Salamat po!" But I am trying to learn French and their thank you is merci! pronounced as "mehr-see". I was able to hear my grandmother (God bless her soul) speak (in Spanish)with my dad and uncles and thank you is "gracias". I am interested also in speaking Italian and thank you for them is "grazi". I also know how to say thank you in sign language, you will put both of your hands near your mouth and outwardly move forward as if you are doing the flying kiss and that means "thank you!"
