Hello there, my fellow myLoters:) today is a very special day in my country. Yeah, that's right. We have general elections for the parliament today. And even despite the fact this should be our most important as citizens, last time barely 41% of those who were areauthorized participated in elections:/ I'm only 21 so i pariticipated in them only once, morevoer the political party I voted for didn't make it to the parliament but I felt good that I did that. I was honest with myself and the rest of the country and at leas i'm not a hypocrite when I criticize government. I can't understand how people can complain when they are so lazy they don't do anythig to change that:/ But anyway, end of my blabbering xD Do you participate in elections? Do you have or would like to have elections in your country? How do you feel about it?

Hi Pompon, Congratulations on being a good example to all people in your country, especially the young. The fact that the party you voted for didn't make it to parliament doesn't matter at all. You were honest with yourself by voting for who you believed was best, and that's what everyone should do. I have done the same for most of my life and have always felt good about it. My party may not have formed the government, but I still felt that I was being honest with myself, and doing what was best for all. Blessings my friend.

I'm from Polad. We have 5 committees we can vote for:) So we don't say that someone votes for liberals or conservatives because it's a little more complicated:P We mostly use experssions "left side" or "right side", where right doesn't neccessarely is right xP

I always consider these time as OUR time, we can freely excercise our power to choose and vote for the person whom we believe shold lead us. whenever elections comes, I always make sure that I have a complete list for the candidates of my choosing. I value my obligation as a citizen of my country, as a taxpayer and law abiding citizen. People should realize its effects, of the difference it makes to let their votes be counted..

here in our country one will start voting at the age of 18. I'm already 25 but I haven't experience to vote. ^__^;; not once. that is because I'm not registered as a voter. when I turned 18 I was in another province taking up college. when I went home, the registration has ended. it was always like that so I decided to register myself in the province where I was doing my college studies. but it didn't work because my voter's ID never came. after I graduated, I went home and I was lucky to have a work immediately but again, it was in another province. I encountered same problems. but now, I'm working near our town but I still wasn't able to register myself! ^__^;; registration was during monday to friday and during that time I had work. but my friend said there was a late registration and it included saturdays but I didn't know about I so I wasn't able to vote again. that was last year I think. and that was the election I felt so frustrated with because I wanted so much to vote but I wasn't able to. ^.^ and then, next week will be the local election, last year was the national election. I'm feeling frustrated again coz I'm not registered and I wouldn't be able to vote for my cousin who is running for councilor. ^.^

Normally we have elections in September, so most of studens are on vacations yet and don't vote. But this time it was already after inaugation so many of them sucseed to register themselves:) I voted in my hometown, so I had no problems^_^

That is really kinda rather responsible stuff f that you gotta do.. Poland I think is going on the right way ..and the loss of Kachynski Twins is kinda good for Poland and Tusk's party has pledged on 2 important issues.. Integrating Poland to Europe and cancel out US 's counter Missile Shielding System which was going to be constructed in Poland and Czech Republic and thus deteriorating Ties with Russia.I think Poland has more relations and ties and relativistic and economical interests with Russia more than USA. I think that Tusks plan on this way is the great one his victory is positive in this manner. I am from Kyrgyzstan and we had a referendum about changing the Constitution and we it's been voted for YES .. so I will also be voting for Parliamentary elections soon.I think people should decide for what they want from Politics and Politicians. So good luck..

I'm glad Tusk won but I doubt it will stop Missile Shielding System project. to be honest I don't see a reason why should it. And as for Russia I don't like what their goverment is doing:/ Yes, we should have apropriate relationship with them. Yes, we are looking to much at US but what we should really care about is European union. Russia just can't get rid off their imperial ambitions. Now they're trying other countries to become dependent on them. You know what I mean? Like "Yeah, we have cut your gas of for 6-8 hours, so what? Your losses is not our problem" or the situation with polish pultry. We have loads of inspections, even russian inspection with EU specialist for control that went well and they still don't want to let us export it to Russia:/ Just because... And they have absolutely no arguments for their actions.

Being able to participate in elections is a privledge and should be taken seriously. You are exactly right about the point of people who do not vote and then complain later on. Look at our joke of a President here in the US. The vast majority of our country does not even vote but yet millions of them will complain about the job he is doing. I personally did not vote for him either time and I think it is completely embarassing as an American that he is our President. The upside is anyone TRULY can be president of the US. You don'r even have to be halfway intelligent. But yes EVERYONE should partipate in elections and feel lucky they have that right.

At least you did what you could to stop him. And as for situation in Iraq we're in the same pile of poop:/ Honestly our army should be back home before 2008 but our goverment (btw. 35 minutes ago officialy lost in this year elections :D) decided to keep them longer but not determined the date. Honestly... We're now the last army xept US in Iraq and I still have no idea why._. I hope this will change soon. And once again: YAY for the results of elections, now we will have goverment who will not embarass us:D (at least I belive so:P)

Definitely participate. Not only is it our right; it is our duty to put good officials in government positions. It's our chance for our voice to be heard and contribute to the improvement of our society.

We will be having our elections, too! It's a local election for barangay (town), I hope it will be peaceful unlike our recent election for senators, congressmen and mayors. It was too messy, there were politicians who kill just to get into power.

It's your own free will but have you ever considered voting not for someone but against someone? Sometimes there are situations where we have to choose between what we don't like and what we don't like even more:/
