Which Hitchcock classic is/was your favorite?

Last night the channel AMC was playing an all day lineup of Alfred Hitchcock movies. Psycho was of course shown, as well as Vertigo, The Man Who Knew Too Much, and The Birds. There were more I can't think of as well. Rebecca wasn't shown, but that was another freaky one in my opinion. My favorite Hitchcock movie is The Birds. I mean, anyone who can make mechanical birds look real, and look like they are picking at people's skin, well that is pretty darn good. And his movies weren't gory, which is another plus to me. So what is your favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie? Maybe you tried to watch one as a child, but couldn't sit through the whole thing. I came to like his films through TV, because I wasn't alive when he was making them and becoming the Master of Suspense. Did anyone think the newer remake of Psycho with Anne Heche was any good? They are getting ready to remake The Birds, which is a shame to me.

I have two favorites, Rear Window and North By Northwest.I used to have just Rear Window , but I had to add North By Northwest because I found my self wanting to watch it over and over again. Both are stylish and they have some humor to them along with great suspense. If you haven't seen them, try them you'll like them. ps. I heard somewhere that Hitch add some real birds to the mechanical birds in the movie The Birds.

You can tell when they do the close ups to like the front porch, that they are real birds. And the ones they have flying, but not harming in some shots are real. But the ones they use to attack people, which are fake, really are so realistic I have to give props to the prop guy. LOL, whoever the prop guys was, maybe Hitchcock did that too. Did you see the TV remake they did of Rear Window? It was a different take on the story because Christopher Reeve was paralyzed and they changed that to fit the story. I didn't see it when it came out.

It's probably just as well. Remakes hardly ever measure up. : )

Oh how I wish I had cable again..don't... :( I used to love AMC I love both The Birds and Psycho...I think what fascinated me about The Birds..and this is silly I know, but besides Gone With The Wind, it was the first time I ever heard my name..Melanie..cause at the time as a kid I used to get teased by my name since no one ever heard it before..but if you remember Tippi Heddin's character was named Melanie..hehehe I've seen and have the DVD of the new Psycho...it's a direct copy of the old and not bad, not great...the one saving grace is that it has my favorite actor in it...Viggo Mortensen

They used to tease you for your name? Good grief, that is a good name, I wonder how they treated people named Ralph, lol.

I'm still Amber. I just wondered if they teased you for being Melanie, how hard they must have teased a kid named Ralph. I went to school with a kid named Ralph. They used to call him Old Man.

I think Naomi Watts is attached to the remake. Too bad because the remakes usually don't even make much money.

OMG REALLY?! Damn it and I missed it! I'll have to check AMCs lineup for today, maybe they're playing some repeats.....I think one of my fav Hitchcock flicks has to be Psycho of course and The Birds is a great one too. I saw the remake of Psycho and though it was good there is NEVER goin to be a remake that'll be the classic version IMO...Psycho 2 and 3 sucked btw in case you'd not seen them...

'Rear Window' (Chrisopher reeve re-did that one a few years ago) and 'Psycho'. Did you know that Hitchcock played a part in all of his movies?

It's ridiculous how much I pay attention trying to pick him out in his movies. Since I know he is going to be in it, I spend half the time trying to catch him.

Oh, I just research what part he plays and then watch for it. Stephen King does the same thing..must be something about warped minds.

I have to agree with you, I loved 'The Birds'. Also, the remake of 'Psycho' wasn't as good as the original. I did just read that Naomi Watts was going to be in a remake of The Birds, but even with special effects as they are today, it won't come up to the original!

I don't have just one favorite Hitchcock thriller, I liked them all. Grace Kelly did one also I believe, that was one of my favorites and one of the first that I watched. No one can top his style.

Alfred Hitchcock scares the pants off of me. I am a chicken and can not bear those kind of movies. However, The Alfred Hitch hour specials that come on cable every day are thrilling enough for me. I just love those a lot.

Hi AmbiePam, Psycho and The Birds are the only Alfred Hitchcock movies that I have seen. I remember when I saw The Birds for the very first time as a kid I was scared of birds for a little while after that lol. Have a great day! Love & Hugzz, PurpleTeddyBear.

It's hard to pick a favorite, because I've never seen a Hitchcock classic I haven't liked. Rear Window is one of my favorites, and of course Psycho and The Birds. Even more than the movies, I always enjoyed watching Alfred Hitchcock Presents. I'm so glad that the show is now available on DVD.

I love Alfred Hitchcock, Vincent Price, Orsen Wells, all of the great old mystery and horror film writers and actors. This afteroon I watched the original War of the Worlds. It was so scary. I bought the new version with Tom Cruise and even though I am madley in love with him (sigh) it could not compare to the fear the old one gave me. I love old movies and will watch them over new ones.

Vincent Price was just a master. Did he used to do this show where he would introduce a short scary story? Maybe I just rented one of his movies that had that on it. Either way, his deliberate voice could really creep me out. : )

I think you are right. Seems I do remember him narrating a show but I don't have a clue what it was. Are we showing our age here just a little :). I don't mind. As an after thought I loved the old Ma and Pa Kettle movies to. I was so easy to entertain as a kid :)
