I had a golden retriever named Brandon. He was a constant companion while I was waiting for a liver transplant. He had severe trouble with his hind legs, and could hardly walk, even after many vet visits. I had to have him put to sleep for his benefit. I still miss him.

That's sad. You know what? Goldens are very prone to hip dylexia (I think that's how it's spelled). It's very important to give goldens glucosamine supplement for the hips. Due to their weight, they tend to put too much pressure on the hind legs and affect the hips. Also, if the dog is kept indoor with hard flooring, it also will have impact especially when they run around the house. Important, just get the hip and joint supplement for them as it's really essential. I hope you do get over Brandon. Most importantly, he was part of your life and that makes it a great memory. I miss my Border collies too, but now, I have a retriever and want to make sure quality time is spent with her.

forex4aliving- Thank you for your response. I didn't know about glucosamine at that time, but I do now, as I take it myself. I used Prednisone on my retreiver. Your right about a dog being part of your life. Just like your child. Hope you have good luck with your retreiver. It is spelled dysplasia, I think.
