Do you think that the people who were hung in Europe and Salem, Mass were really witches or do you think that it was something else like a disease or ailment that these people had that made them act the way they did? I watched an interesting documentary on this today that had a very good viewpoint on what may have happened and it really opened my eyes and made me believe that a lot of innocent people dies because "they were going against god". Apparently it was actually a fungus in their crops that caused the symptoms they displayed. What do you think?

I beleive out of all the people they hung 5% practised witchcraft. The other's just got dealt a very bad hand. I feel what's it to them what these people practised?? Here you're trying to spread everything that's good only to be a murdering bunch of lunatics yourselves. I thought We had freedom of religion during that time? SO wasn't it illegal for them to do what they did ??

Many of the so-called witches burned and hung were in fact the village wise woman. At a time when medicine was starting to become a medical and male preserve the local wise woman and mid wife became a threat - the respect they were held in by the populace meant they had to be discredited in some way.
