From the career point of view, right now Java got a very high demand, But most companies prefer experienced candidate. In the future there is a chance for increased intake for python and Ruby developers.

C#,I think. So far,it's the most advanced software program. It is an combition of C++ and JAVA.Though c++ and java both are excellent,I think C# will take over someday.

Java and C# is suitable for object orient development. C is normally used for embeded system development. PHP,ASP,Java can be used for web application.
