Hi Teresa.Alot of people give a receiving blanket,a basket thats already made up with stuff in it,an outfit(buy it 3 months bigger).I received a receiving blanket that was pale yelow with a teddy bears head in the middle and a matching photo teddy bear frame.I loved it the most and my daughter is 4 1/2 years old and still carries it around, haha. You can never have too many blankets for a baby.

Hi,im getting my inkcartridges this morning for my photo/picture machine and i will take a picture of it and download ot for you to see.My daughter falls asleep with it every night, haha. As soon as i do it,i will add it to this discussion/response.Smiles:):)A blanket is more sentimental and they cuddle, sleep and carry it around with them when their bigger. So its not going to waste and lasts longer.Id rather have this over diapers and stuff, haha.:)

Try to give her a "nappy cake". It's a cake-formed diaper with other baby things being put as decors. You can make it your own. if you want to see samples of it, try to surf through the internet. It's not too expensive and a very nice present for a newborn.

You will not find it in the chines market. You will make it yourself. It's easy and fun to do. Go to botiques where children's accessories are being sold. It will also give you an idea.

You can give children book with "full of color". Because when my son was born, one of my husband colleague gave us children book. And when my son around 3 months, everyday i always read that book with my son on my lap. Every single days ^_^;; Now, my son is 14 months. He still like that book and it is one of his favorite book :)
But, it's up to you. Good luck!

Sometimes I have given the parents gifts (like champagne for the celebration) and I've also found that because so many people give toys and clothes, it can be useful to give a consumable gift such as disposable nappies, babycare products etc - it really depends on how well you know the parents and whether you feel it should be a very formal gift.

well if she already had her baby shower than she has most everything she needs to start out most likely. And since its a colleague I'm sure you don;t want to spend a crazy amount of money. I would go with a savings bond. You can buy a saving bond for 25 and than it will be worth 50 in however many years it is that the baby is able to cash it in.
