Cooked veggies are great.. I always bought frozen mixed veggies, and i would pull a little out at a time and steam them for my boys. Both of mine had quite a few teeth at 9 months (at least 6 or so) but i think they could still gum them up if they didn't have teeth. Cooked peas, carrots, beans etc would work well.
I also peeled grapes and then halved them, and my little guys loved them. Cheerios, diced up fruit, even cheese, can be really good. Mine were eating meat at that time too. As long as you watch them, you can try alot of different things at that age. cottage cheese is great, because even though it will be quite messy, if you get the larger curd, they can eat it with their fingers. Melons are great too. MOst babies will love them.

I've always fed my little ones pretty much whatever we ate, skipping foods likely to cause allergies of course. At 9 months my guys were eating small pieces of french toast or pancakes, dry cereal, fresh fruit cut to not be a choking hazard, and frozen veggies. I always skipped strawberries, chocolate, dairy products, nuts, and tomatoes until they were a bit older.
