When i was working in a 24 hour restaurant, I had duties that lasted for 24 hours also. I can't find time to sleep or even just take a nap. Being a manager then meant having a lot of work to do.
I stay awake for 24 hours at work. And few hours going home and cleaning myself and eating before going to bed. Well, that was the longest for me.
How about you?

The longest was 24 hours for me. But, the truth is, I felt like I was floating on air the entire day. I was still working back then and I was one of the supervisors in a hospital cafeteria. One time, I had to bring paperworks at home and have it ready the next day. I din't get any sleep at all, and I drowned myself with lots of coffee.:) The next thing I knew, it was already and I had to get ready for my morning shift. So, I went to work the next day and was "floating" during the 8 hour shift. Thankfully, my adrenalin kicked in when it was lunchtime. And even without any sleep, I did my job well.

I understand how it feels. It's really good you have a good resistance.

When I was younger I used to work back to back shifts which meant that I could work up to 1am at night and then I had to be back on shift the next morning at 6pm, so it was hardly worth going back to bed, with the travelling time to get home and back to work again, I would drink plenty of coffee and watch the television, I didn't have many back to back shifts and in the end the company had to change them so no one got any more back to back shifts, which was a pity because the pay was very rewarding to do this kind of shifts.

I agree that it pays a lot having back to back shift. But your health will suffer.

You must be playing too hard. But I do admire your commitment to your studies and passing your exams. Reviewing 'till morning must be something.

hello izathewzia, Thanks for your post.I think necessity and
sense of responsibility are the two determining factors apart from people suffering from depression or insomania lol, still now my highest timing has been 67 or 68 hours
straight without a single second nap. Thanks again.

Yes, waking up for 24 hours is tough. Especially if your work needs a lot of thinking.

To stay awake for 24 hours is too long to be healthy for your body, although I guess if you are young, you may be able to do this.
Probably the longest I have been awake in very recent times, would be 17 hours, when I have to get up at 4.00am to take my daughter to swimming training.
I find, at my age, I ne4ed a lot of sleep.

I agree with you that lack of sleep or rest is too bad for the health. Even young people get sick because of it.

I have stayed up for 24 hours before, but I wasn't doing well. I am sleep-deprived to begin with & have been known to fall asleep at my desk at work, fall asleep while I'm eating... I can even fall asleep standing up, if I'm propped up against a wall! And I'm bipolar, so if I stay up too long, I start to get psychotic! Yikes!

I remember when I was young, I could stay awake till six o'clock in the morning from evening. That was less than twenty-four hours, about nineteen hours, I think. Why could I stay awake that many hours? It was because I was addicted to playing majiong, a game of us Chinese, when I first learnt how to play with it. All of us four colleages were learners and we learnt together and we were all interested and addicted to it, so we used to play on weekends starting from Friday night. It was a wonderful memory though.

Wow, that is too long! But taking a nap will somehow help you sustain the long hours of being awake.
