Do you double check your prescription?

I posted earlier that my son broke his arm. We were sent home with a prescription for Tylenol 3 and since it was Sunday after 6 p.m. and I knew my pharmacy was close, we went to a different pharmacy that is open 24 hours.
When we got home I noticed that the label on the bottle said 1 teaspoonful every 4 hours. The verbal and written instructions I had been given at the ER were 1 Tablespoonful every 4 hours. So, which is right?
I called the pharmacy and after double checking I was informed that it should be 1 tablespoonful.
Do you check your prescription to make sure the instructions are the same as you were given at the Dr.s office? Have you had this happen to you?

I do double check my perscriptions now. A friend of mine went to pick up a perscription from her usual pharmacy and didn't notice until she was about to take a pill that they had given her the wrong pills. I don't want to thin of what could have happened if she had taken the pill without paying attention.

Yes, always. I am a nurse, and I know better than most, that doctors and pharmacists are people too - so they occasionally make a mistake.
Double check all your medications, at home and in the hospital. State your name to anyone who wants to give you meds or draw your blood.
Better safe!
