Job search

I am getting very frustrated searching for a job in the new city I've just moved to. Have been here for 6 weeks and applied to over 40 positions without any luck. I realize that making a career change as I am, going from classroom assistant to administration is not easy. However, before working in education, I did work as a secretary, and have used relevant skills all along the way. I feel as though no one wants to give me a chance. If anyone has been in a similar situation and had success, do you have any tips?

hi.. dont give up. i was in a similar situation before. well, make that 3 years ago. i was transitioning from an executive secretary position to a bank job. however, despite of applying to over 70 organizations, establishments and companies. i wasnt hired despite multiple interviews and exams. however, i had realized that it wasnt the right time and place for me. moreover, i was overqualified in terms of experience and education. plus, that i wont fit in bank job anyway. i stuck with the old job and finished my masters degree for year then i quit that job. now, i am happy and doing what i loved most. computer graphics, multimedia, system programming and web design. so dont lose hope. try to upgrade your skills. be persistent. something better will come along the way coz maybe your knocking on the wrong door.
