The term inner child is used for different purposes: One purpose is mostly psychological, in which the persons childhood is related and the term indicates that child, which is hidden inside! Second purpose is widened the concept that the inner child means your innocent self, your self which has still the innocent element it is reflecting in your life as your positive side! Third purpose is related with THE SOUL! Our real being or say the base of our existence for this manifestation! Mostly this term is used in eastern philosophy and spiritual processes! What do you say about all such things? What do you understand with this term INNER CHILD?

I agree with all you wrote.. plus, to me, we will always be children of the supreme power.. and, when my first grandchild came along, I realized how much inner child I had! Often thinking of myself as going through a second childhood with her when she was very young.. (It was a lot of fun! and also healing as there was trauma in this inner child's early life.) Blessings..! :)

I do not understand about INNER CHILD. If it is that how you were treated as a youngster, does influence you, that I do believe. But I am not into Eastern Philosophy and we can overcome what was in the past. Also I believe that none of us are innocent and we have to overcome the torments we endured as children and children can be cruel. They are not innocent beings.

What an interesting topic, Healwell!! My understanding of the term "inner child" is my innocent or childlike soul. This part of me searches for freedom like a souring bird. When I find that freedom, I feel light hearted and without burdens in my mind. Instead, I am able to enjoy the moment and the experience that I'm having. I mostly feel this way when I'm out in the woods on a hike or when I'm watching the birds out my window.
