How do you decide about your job?

How do you decide whether to continue working at a company or resign and move to another company? What would be the factors that would affect your decision? Do you go away because the other company offer a better income? Do you go away because the other company is bigger than your current one?
I have just resigned from my company not because the other company would pay me any better but I am going to a company that I am pretty sure that it would still be around for many years from now compared to the current one that could go down the drain in about a couple of years. Anyway, these are just predictions only but I had made my mind to move on to the new place.
Do you think that I am doing the right thing or I would regret my decision for going for a less pay but more stable work place?

I think there are a million different reasons to want to move jobs - and if by making your decision you feel that it is a good reason for you - then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. If stability is important to you, then having a higher salary will make you miserable - if you feel that the position there is unstable - thus your decision is great for you, so be happy with it. If however, you are more interested in a higher salary than in security you may have made the wrong choice!

I don't really look at the stability of the company, because I believe my success depends on internal factors within myself, not on the company that I work for. And if I'm really good, I'll be able to turn around a company that has been struggling.
I quit my last job when the demands became unreasonable. I tolerated a lot of things with that job such as difficult reports, graveyard shifts, too much overtime, having to work on Sundays and holidays, etc. But when the pressure was too much, that's when I decided it's no longer worth it.

I agree with you .I think if you want to do something you think it's right ,then do it .I always want to do shomething like ,but still now i haven't done. When you miss it ,you just think it's every important .if you don't miss it ,then do it when you remember. Many people want earn more money ,so the are looking for chance to change the current life ,but they don't dare resign for better job, just think that day will come one day.

I think most important thing is you feel happy and do the work on your own initiative. As for me, I would like to find a relatively lower pay job rather than a high salary but in boring or unfriendly environment. Since I will feel gloomy and get older easily in this environment. Good luck

I would say job satisfaction and atmosphere of the office woul be the deciding factors for me, you neverknow company might even survive the crisis. but may be if you have a good oppurtunity in hand its better to get out becuase no one knows your situation better than you. A bird in hn is always better than ...

Good, wise ,decision.I was with a company that was getting very little sales at the store I was at.Eventually it closed. Then I went to E.B.Games.I thought this was stable.I was a manager for 5 years. Then Gamestop bought us out.One by one all the managers in my district were fired.Eventually all E.B. managers lost their jobs. We made more money than any of the Gamestop managers.Luckily I left as I was the last to be fired. At least I have a good resume.Too bad I don't use it since I work at home.

I think the most important things would be security and experience that the job is giving you.
Like you said your going to want to take a job that you know you will be safe at, be around for years to come.
Also you want a job that your going to get more than just money out of it. Experience is very important , it can take you where ever you want to go. Money is not all of it. Your going to want a job that is close and will pay a decent amount of money. Your not going to want to drive hours on end if the pay is very bad.

There has been many times where I wanted to quit my job. But I wont the one thing that keeps me there is the money and bascically I need it. I know how hard it is to find an actual job I know for sure I will not quit my job untill I actually find a job thats better then mine. Because I cant go back to being poor like I was before I had a job lol.

For me, I like a working place where it is comfortable to work and there is room for career advancement. I have worked for a big company where they offered good benefits plus yearly salary increment. But the only setback was that there was too much office politic where those deserving staff were sideline for promotion. I decided to quit my job because the working environment is no longer conducive.

To me... Happiness has always been my deciding factor. Every job I have left because I was no longer happy there and I went somewhere else to be happier. While money is important, it doesn't bring happiness. While stability is important, it also might not bring happiness.
I don't think you made the wrong decision, because it felt right at the time and I'm sure it was right.

It is better toaccept less pay and be in a more solid and secure environment. Good jobs are getting more and more difficult to come by as the populations increase and our world resources diminish. I do hope our technology catches up with the needs of human being s to co exist and live happily. I think you know in your heart what is the best move and it is better to be stress free thann worrying about when you may get laid off the job. Good luck my friend!

For me the most important factor to moving to another company is the location, if the other location gives you more money but its very far from your home i think its not worth it because you will be only a few time in home with your family. But this is only my opinion...
