how many of you all use a doggie door ?

Ok yesterday a friend put a doggie door in my house for me because i have 3 little dogs and since winter is comming and i have health isues they need to use a doggie foor to go outside into there pen to go poddy . how hard was it for you to train them to use the door? and How long did it take ? please let me know thank you

We have a doggy door for both small and medium sized dogs. To accomidate the small dogs we had to improvise a step on the outside so it wasn't such a long drop for them. the older dogs took to it straight away and we let thhem teach the younger dogs. The funniest thing is watching the pups learn to use it. They try to follow mum in and out and really until they are about 6wks old don't have much success. Once they have mastered it though it then usually becomes a game.

Well mine found it to be far easier than jumping up & turning the doorknob to let themselves out. They started using it right away. Of course I also found that the original panel you use to lock it was insufficient for my hounds ( see profile pics )& had to build a wood & steel door to lock the doggie door with.
