Is it because of a hormonal imbalance, or because one has not had enough sleep or overtired? or could it be the change in weather? I have been very irritable lately and it's getting worse. I am upsetting my family because of my moods - I wake up feeling all grouchy and moody and snap at everyone... why? Is it because I'm just nasty like that or is it because something is going on with me that I have yet to figure out? What can I do to make myself less moody and irritable? How can I control my moods? Suggestions please anyone!

As a friend, I would like to seriously suggest that you see a doctor as soon as possible. From what I have learned from you so far, you are not the moody type. The reason that you feel this way could come from so many different things. Don't try to guess or take anyone's advice. Let the doctor ask questions and run some test and go from there. I have come to count on you and I do not want you to be so worn out that you don't have time for Me anymore. I bet you didn't know it was really all about Me, did you? LOL. I hope that you are feeling better and back to your regular self soon.

hahaha I am feeling a lot better today and thought a lot of what you had to say on my other discussion. Another poster suggested I monitor my mood swings so that is what I am going to do and see what happens from there. Then I may consider seeing my doctor.

Why do I need to see a Psyche when I have YOU LMAO Its funny how one day I am down and out and then the next thing I am back to where I was before... maybe there is something more serious with me - Will see how I go with monitoring my mood swings and until then, I'll take anything to feel better LOL

I was really hinting toward a Psychiatrist,(you know, head doctor)but I did not want to offend anyone. Especially, not maddysmommy. But, since you are feeling better now I can tell you, GET A GRIP, TAKE A HAPPY CAMPER PILL AND GET OVER IT, LOL.

Besides hormonal imbalance, well poor diet, not enough sleep, and stress. That will do it.

I exercise almost all of the time, I have been eating less, and to top it all off I lost 25 pounds in 2 months thanks to some stomach illness. I am not on any medication at all, except for maybe anything that I have to take for my illness, I try to limit my medication intake because it can do more harm than good.

I'm actually on a diet at the moment and trying to lose 40 pounds - I have lost 20 pounds already - I know I haven't had much sleep lately and have changed my routine and going to bed much earlier than normal.

Is it a woman thing, do you mean? I know my sister had the same problem and had to go to counselling or her s/o said they couldn't go on together. She is now a happier person living life with him. She is a changed woman. Since I have fibromyalgia there are dozens of things that can affect my mood - the weather, whether I sleep well, whether I overdid it the day before, PMS, or just being too much in demand (which most mothers are). I would love to be chipper and happy all the time like Marie Osmond.

Oh did you see her on the show last night .. umm dancing with the stars! I hope she is ok, she fainted, might have overdone it I think. I use to listen to her music and her brother Donny/Danny. I wonder what has happened to him?

Donny is a big hit in the UK. He has tons of fans over there and does many concerts as well as hosting the TV show Identity over in the UK (it was cancelled her in North America *frown*). I subscribe to his newsletter and get a birthday email from him every year. It is an audio message - so cool. He is also reporting on Dancing With The Stars for Entertainment Tonight.

I have that episode every once a month. For me it is pms. At first, I didnt what was wrong with me. I get moody, have insomnia and always get very irritated. I made my family day really stressful because of my moodiness. But there are times when I am perfectly pleasant to everyone. So, I decided to monitor my own behavior to see when I have these so called mood swings. And the results were, I will start to have these just before my monthly circle. I blame it on my hormone. Now, each time pms, I will lessen myself from talking or getting involved in anything with my family. In that way, I have less interaction thus avoiding unnecessary anger or irritable. I think you should monitor your daily activity to determine the cause, if it is the pms things, then you should be able to recognize when it is about to come. If it is stress or lack of sleep, get yourself a vacation, only you alone or with friends, away from your daily routine at home. Hope it helps.

We must be twins...LOL...Are you taking enough time out for you? I find sometimes if I don't get time to myself I get cranky..I have alot to worry about lately and that is making me cranky also..I am constantly dizzy..and I am so tired of being dizzy that I think I am getting depressed..I quit my job due to being dizzy and now with my neck problems I sleep a lot...Actually I slept all day and haven't gone to bed yet...Worrying can do that to people...Get a check-up with your doctor just to rule out anything serious...this has nothing to do with being a nasty person because you are not..You are a wonderful person who needs a check-up....I hope I helped...HUGS

I actually have a lot of time on my hands now that my son is in school. I think maybe that could be the problem as I don't know what to do with my time other than exercise (which I do every morning as I'm trying to lose weight) and then its household chores and running a few errands. Maybe I need to get out there and find a part time job to keep myself occupied - this was suggested by a friend and I think she may be right1 I do feel a whole lot better today and went to bed early and had a good nights rest. I am also going to monitor my mood swings over the next few months and then go from there - I may even follow up with my doctor as well. I hope you are feeling better my friend, I worry about you, you know!

That is a great idea to get a part time job..Even volunteering is good too! You might feel that because you do have a lot of time now that you should be doing more and that is understandable...I am in the process of trying to paint and rearrange each room and sometimes I want to do everything at once...Right now I am focusing on the hallway and stairs and then when I am done there, I will focus on the dining room...You take care and keep us posted...HUGS..thank you for your concern about me...I worry about you too!

You are too young to go through menopause, so it is not that. It could be because you are worried about something, or you are not getting enough sleep. If the skies where you live is cloudy and it is dark and gray, you may get depressed, and if when the skies are clear and blue, you feel better, you could have Seasonable Affected Disorder. If your kids are teenagers, you might be worrying about them and that would make you moody.

I'm going to monitor my mood swings over the next few months and then go from there. I may even consider seeing my doctor thereafter - I hope its just because maybe I am not getting enough sleep, or because its almost that time of the month, or because I am a little anxious because I don't know what to do with myself now that my son is at school and I'm at home twiddling my thumbs. Another friend suggested I look for a part time job, something to think about!

I'm sure someone else has already asked this, but could you be pregnant? I know you mentioned in one of Rozie's discussions that you guys had been trying for awhile. I dunno. I get like that myself and little things will set me off and make me mad enough that it ruins the whole day. I snap off at my hubby for no reason sometimes, and I hate that! I think my irritibility is work, new house, and trying for a baby related and yours could very well be lack of sleep or a change of weather. Don't worry about it too much. I'm sure it will pass soon enough.

Hi flight, as far as I know I am not pregnant but then again I have not taken a pregnancy test yet so I will know within a week or so when my monthly is due LOL. After reading a few of the comments I think I need to get out and start lookng for a part time job, getting my identity back you know? I think because now that my son is at school and I am at home twiddling my fingers trying to figure out what to do, maybe I need to be doing something more to occupy myself. So I have been thinking of taking up a part time job. I need to redo my resume before I start to search. Anything for a couple of hours a day would be suitable as I still want to be available for my son and volunteering at his school. My mood did pass but still its become more frequent than usual. Thanks flight!

Don't mess with me! - having a bad day
I had to check your age before I responded to this because there are sooooo many reasons why women especially experience mood swings. Sometimes they can be physiological and other times psychological and that's what you have to determine. My 40 year old daughter has bad mood swings because of PMS, I started having them when I started menopause and then was diagnosed with manic depression. You have to figure out what it is in your life that makes your feeling change so drastically and work from there. I found this great site that should give you some ideas and knowledge about mood swings. Check it out and good luck! http://www.mood-swings.net/article9.php

Thank you for the link crtymuziklvr - appreciate that. I printed out the article and will read over it. I am going to monitor my mood swings over the next few months and then go from there. I think a lot has to do with "not knowing what to do with myself now that my son is in school and I'm at home alone". I have been given a few suggestions so I may even consider taking up a part time job which might just fill that void and hopefully help with my mood swings.

I think theres a lot of causes why a person is irritable or has mood swings. I am like that whenever I am stressed and wants to be alone. Also when Im thinking about a problem and somebody tries to disturb me then I become irritable.
