my kiiten doent seem to want to go in his liter box anymore ?????

When we first go are kitten he would go in his liter box all the time now hes pooping and peeing all over and i dont know wh. when we first got the liter box it is an enclosed one we put in some litter that we got from walmart for 2 dollars a big bag and he always went in it. now we got fresh step which is so much better but he dosnt seem to go in it now. i dont know if its the litter or what
