Not getting credit for responding a second time to a discussion

I was noticing in the guidelines that you don't get any credit for responding more than once to a discussion. Only for the first time you do. I think this is kinda sad because that is what a discussion is - talking back and forth. I spend a lot of time responding and when someone responds back I like to answer them. We are developing friendships here and that sometimes requires chatting back and forth. Wouldn't this promote some members to just respond to a discussion for the 1 cent and then move on and never check back to see what is going on. I am glad that the money is a second issue to me and that the new friends I am making is the most important but I pesonally think each response is important not just the first one. Anyone else have a thought on this?
