Taking A Break..Uh, No, Not From Here...But

As a lot of folks know I've been very intensely working on that animal website of mine..but yikes I think I need a break from it..at least for a day or so...One of the hardest things to do, about organizing my "If Everyone Cared" animal website, was going through the website that showed pictures of abused and experimented on animals..was giving me nightmares just to look at, but I felt I needed photos to show what animal testing was all about ...I still have a lot more work to do on it, and may even start up a another one with another web=host since I've been running into snags working with the Freewebs format--I more used to the tripod webhost..and might hunt around for other sites as well
But I NEED A BREAK!!!!
I've been pretty much working on the site my every waking moment, and have neglected some of my other work...but that's me, typical...when I get involved with something I give it my all and have a gung-ho spirit about it...which I admit makes me a bit daft...LOL
So have any of you done that?...You get all fired up about a project, something that is close and near to your heart...BUT..find it takes it a bit out of you? Do you find you need a break from it??

I think that you have great fortitude, pyewacket, to take on the tasks that speak to you and devote so much attention to them. I have viewed some of the photos of abused animals, and, yes, they are hard to take. I cannot imagine having to do a lot of it. As for taking a break, I think you have earned it. Sometimes that little respite that we give ourselves from our labors will provide us with new and interesting directions in which we want to go. I like to fully immerse myself in a project once I give it my attention. My problem is taking the first step, lol. We could all use some of your drive and enthusiasm.

I hope you understand that I can't go to your site if it shows abused and experimented on animals because it would just kill me. I can't handle things like that especially when it comes to kids or animals because they're so defenseless. I had gotten some mail stuff once a long long time ago and I've never ever forgotten it and it eats me up inside. I just wanted you to know that I care and care VERY much but that I can't handle seeing it so I won't be one to go to the site. I'm sorry! Hope you understand!

I understand...I did add a page there though of all the organizations that can help animals...that was one of my points in starting it, so many people can speak or write out against such horrors

Oh I don't mind doing that!! I don't mind at all!! In fact I'd LOVE to do that!! I just can't deal with the pictures. I had a heck of a time getting past the ones I saw many years ago. Is there any way to get around seeing the pictures on your site?

Sometimes I wish I could be that way but my responsibilities always get in the way. Even household chores which I'm always procrastinating with serve as a block to my getting totally involved with anything. It's a cop oput I know but I cannot seem to budge.

Actually household chores are the one thing I do procrastinate about...since I find it boring I'd rather be doing more exciting things than mopping the floors or dusting...hehhee...think I DO need to dust soon though..can write my name in the dust on my bookshelves...LOL

Hi pyewacket! Oh, yes all the time! When I get to start a project, I get all excited and fired up and most of the time, I do have less sleeping hours just to make sure I could finish ait earlier which is way,way ahead of time. I really don't take breaks fom it because I am always in a hurry to have the end result or the fruit of my labor. But the disadvantage of that is when I am all fired up and then I don't get the result I want, I get really frustrated and devastated. Take care and have a nice day.

I never take breaks either I guess with the thinking that if I do, I just won't be able to keep my momentum going...and I tend to stay up much later too working on something...hopefully I'm going back on the project over the weekend and try and finish it up

pw,
that is a bad habit of mine when it comes to writing-I've always wanted to be a published writer & I'll start & get a few chapters in then quit & start on a new one.I call them my short stories ( novels that I've never finished)

We all need a break. I took a week out of writing on my novel, and to get my ideas together. You cannot work twenty-four hours a day, without it making you upset especially if it becomes an obsession as that animal rights website has done for you. I am into protecting the unborn, children, that is, and what I did was to do a little each day and I did not have enough money to get permission to post pictures of pregnant women who had been murdered by their boyfriends who did not want the baby or evil relatives forcing girls to get abortions.
What you have to do is to put yourself on a schedule, say so many hours on the website a day and that is that.

Hi pye,
Yes, I have been very into a project before that was near and dear to my heart, and then I realized wow I need a break! It's good to see that your so fired up and giving it your all though as it will make a difference somehow when it's all said and done I'm sure. I look forward to seeing your project when your done, I'm hoping you will share it with us.

Hi pyewacket, this is the first time i am responding to your discussion. Morning friend. Have a nice time.
Often a break from a monotonous work gives one a kind of rejunuvating feeling. It makes our mind fresh and clear, more over we come up with a fresh ideas and thoughts. My wishes are for you, that you develop a nice good site.

Thank you so much for responding to my discussion :)
Yes, it is important to take a break from any kind of long term project like I've been doing...since I've taken a few days off from it, I now plan to work on it again over the weekend and will be refreshed by taking that break...

Wow that sounds like an awsome project and totally you! With your caring and passion, I'm sure it will be great.
I do the very same thing with anything I take up new, it's like I become obsessed until I'm just so sick of it that I have to step away. I don't think that makes us daft, we're just very determained, creative perfectionist, lol.
By the way... if you're looking to show companies that are animal friendly and looking to make a little $$$... E.L.F. cosmetics doesn't test on animals, is anti fur and cruelty and has a project with PETA. You can affiliate market for them through linkshare, I do. Then I go to My Power Mall and shop their site, omg... so all their makeup is just $1 a piece!!! And it's actually really good quality stuff, not harsh, taste and smells yummy and stays on forever.

Thank you ever so much..I do sometimes wish I could do even more about letting people know what's going on in the animal world...I do hope this website will alert people of just what cruelties are going on though--

Hi pyewacket.Yes i do get that way and finally do take a break from what i started to do to change my mind and maybe give me a boost of fresh energy.Um,i looked at your website and love what your doing.Im sorry, but i cannot go there again....its not you...but the pictures..gosh..i cant get them out of my mind since last night and dreamed all night about them.I even cried today when i looked into my animals eyes, mostly my cat tiger and remembering something i saw..i feel like crying all the time now,i will not say but it has affected me alot and i feel my heart is breaking,i mean really breaking piece by piece.Im lost for words and have alot of pain inside and hate, pure HATETRED to those things who call themselves people who do bad stuff like this to innocent animals.Sorry i had blah, blah on you but it felt good to release my pain and feelings.
Your friend Peanutjar:):)

Those pictures are hard to look at and the ones I posted on my site are the "nicer" ones if you can believe it...so no, I don't blame you for not wanting to go back to the site..I did add all the organizations one can get involved with though to help animals out.
