Responsibility at work.

I work in a team of three people who are responsible for the health and safety of about 450 people.
The head of my department is on leave and my supervisor has called in - unable to come in today.
This leaves me responsible for the health and safety of a lot of people. I'm surprised how calm I am about this.
What sort of responsibilities do you have where you work? How do you feel about having such responsiblities or not having any particular responsibilities?

At one time I have been responsible for around 300 people, and that was more than enough responsibility for me. I felt like I was *herding cats* during that time and was very glad when the manager returned to work. Having said that, at the time I felt fairly calm and practical about it all.

LOL herding cats is almost impossible, there were times when my late Dad used that term to describe a situation when it could so easily get out of control.

Responsibility starts with us first and not someone else. I feel great when I carry out my responsibility in my work while on a job. It does not matter to me if others shirk or not. What matters is the inner sense of satisfaction.

Here in our company, I'm part of the Quality Control Department which is responsible not only in the quality of the produced products but also to ensure that the proper working processes are being implemented and done in the production line. It's really hard sometimes because we are usually blame or the accusing finger always point to us whenever we received complaints from our customer. But I do like it because my work is not monotonous and there's always something different to do every time.
