Are internships necessary ???????

hey are INTERNSHIPS necessary for getting admission to a US grad school.....by the way i am not an US citizen...i know i have to take GRE and toefl .......

no not necessary but would be a plus point if got one. they might be considered necessary if apping to top-notch schools.
