How do you promote your blog?

I listed two of my blogs on blogcatalog.com. I also comment on other sites or blogs that are about subjects I'm interested in. In my blog profiles I make sure that I have links to all my other blogs. I've had a fair number of hits from my profile on a small specialized social site. My oldest blog was recently linked to by an about.com guide, but that took a year's worth of work to get noticed. More and more of my hits are coming from other bloggers who've linked to me. But this is useful only if you are writing on similar subjects. That's why I don't take part in big link exchanges. Most of the time all that will get you is people who stop by once out of curiosity and then never come back because it's not a subject they're interested in.

I join site like, mybloglog.com, blogcatalog.com,blogcave.com and blogdune.com. They do get visitor for me, not much though. Its about 50 visitor a day.
