Why do I feel so discouraged?

Is it normal to feel so inadequate when raising a child? How about two kids? 16 months apart, running around like little hellions! Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but they seem to ruin everything they touch. Drawing on the couch, floor, wall, bunkbed, doors, etc. all in one week. Breaking toys, camera's, ripping school notes, bickering, fighting, whining, and NEVER taking naps! These two are incredulous!
Maybe it is the terrible two's. I hope I am not failing as a parent..and timeouts don't work and I will not spank.

As a very young mother I completely understand where you are coming from. I question my parenting all the time!! I used to not ever spank my son, and when my husband disciplined him i got upset. Now he is almost 3, and until now he seemed to be the perfect child. Now he whines and refuses to potty train and doesn't obey me at all!! His dad on the other hand can enter the room and he acts like an angel!! So, i started popping his hand to get his attention, and he seems to be getting better!! Time out never worked with him, and he doesn't take naps either so when he is getting fussy it only takes one little pop on the leg and he shuts it up!! You just have to show your kids who runs the show, and not let them run you!

sounds like you have two active kids that have a need to explore May need to set a time you can sit down and do activities with them thru out the day involving cutting and coloring and exercising I found when I give my little one more one on one time it helps her behavior
